Thanks so much for highlighting my work! 😊 And I agree. Medical Apartheid and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks are such important books!

Not neurology - but Twice as Hard, by @JasmineB_Author, should be on everyone's reading list. Also the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by @rebeccaskloot, and Medical Apartheid by @haw95 What books do you WANT to read on the history of neurology?

@JasmineB_Author —Finishing #TwiceAsHard. Learning about the giants whose shoulders we stand on never gets old @AMWADoctors @Doctorbookshelf

In 1898, Eliza Grier-an emancipated enslaved woman became the first black woman with a license to practice medicine in Georgia. To afford the cost of medical education at Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania, she alternated each year of school with a year of picking cotton.

.@JasmineB_Author’s TWICE AS HARD is a mirror medical institutions need to look into to figure out how to dismantle the barriers they keep set up against students from underrepresented backgrounds. #WHM #WomenInMedicine @CrookedMedia buff.ly/40gLCX6

Weaving together the stories @gaylewald @AnneliseOrleck1 @JasmineB_Author @LauraLLovett3 @NaomiMcDougallJ and others tell through time in their books is what makes Women’s history. Enjoy! #WomensHistoryMonth buff.ly/3yGB1IW

We often get the message that the boys take the lead, that they’re the heroes. With TWICE AS HARD, @JasmineB_Author wants girls to see that women are having an impact as leaders and changemakers. #WomensHistoryMonth buff.ly/3yFjgK2
