“When the dust settles there is going to be a task to face. The country has been through several issues which have shaped our society. Putting that right is going to take more than manifesto promises.” My piece on what @UKLabour priorities should be. ⬇️ bit.ly/3yroext

This ⬇️ Just had to pick another issue up with a train operator about a similar issue

Can someone explain to me why train companies seem so keen on making sure passengers follow their terms and conditions, but when it's the other way round (National Rail Conditions of Travel), it seems fine to ignore? @LouHaigh @AvantiWestCoast

Nan was the family kingpin. A fervent journalist with an eye for detail whose lessons ring out everyday. We owe a debt of gratitude to Priory House for their care and compassion for Nan. She leaves us with a huge void to fill but enough life lessons to fill it 10x over.

Diane Ashton was hailed as an "amazing" journalist and a "trusted mentor". rhyljournal.co.uk/news/24747856.…

A reminder that if visited by police about a "hate crime" & you are invited to attend an interview, it has 2 purposes, to provide opportunity for you to explain away whatever it may be & a fishing expedition by police in search of evidence. If they had it, you would be arrested.

My theory is that everything that has gone wrong for this govt is due to him trying to govern as if he was prosecuting a court case - always going for short term wins, using disingenuous arguments or rudeness, never thinking about what he wants to build in the long term.

People saying “why should farmers escape inheritance tax when X, Y, Z people have to pay it” miss that most of us are broadly against inheritance tax altogether. We agree — X, Y, Z people shouldn’t have to pay it either.

I’m proud to back our British farmers today. Living in - and having represented - a rural constituency, I know full well that family farmers are the lifeblood of our rural economy, working night and day and through generations to provide the country with food. Labour’s…

Family farmers are angry and anxious as Govt changes will kill off their livelihoods. Worse still; Govt isn't listening. These changes will have a devastating impact on our food security. Today I'll be meeting farmers from across the country at the farmers rally in Westminster.

Parliament is sovereign. But the Westminister system of government, which doesn't have a 'pure' separation of powers, doesn't envisage the government being required to administer laws it has never accepted. There are myriad conventions that prevent this, from the requirement that…

The government is arguably acting in breach of constitutional convention in its approach to Kim Leadbeater's assisted suicide bill. This is a serious concern, and disappointing in a government that came to office claiming to restore high standards to public life.

Seriously, this is something else. It will soon be possible to be a graduate on minimum wage in the UK and face a 37% marginal tax rate (20% income tax, 8% NI, plus 9% uni fees repayment). Throw in auto-enrolment at 5% and 6% loan repay for postgrads and it's 48%

Tonight the Scottish Parliament has voted decisively to reject the #FamilyFarmTax. Whilst this is legislation which sits with Westminster, MSPs have sent a clear message about how it’s viewed n Scotland. Farming across the British isles is united in rejecting this awful policy.

Why do we constantly punch ourselves in the face as a country? Why? Do our leaders hate us? Do they actively want stagnation and decline? Is it some kind of sadomasochistic fetish for them to make us all poor for literally no reason at all? Do they cackle as they do it?

Bit more detail on the £100m bat shed for HS2. They don’t actually roost in Sheephouse Wood where it’s being built, they’re mostly in other woods nearby. This very expensive tunnel is in case the bats decide to go for a ‘forage’ near the railway line 🦇 inews.co.uk/news/politics/…

I keep saying this: degrees need to be more practical and focus on employability more than theory heavy courses and it’s great to see this reflected in results. Well done to all involved 👏👏👏

I'm so impressed with @imperialcollege Ranked Number 2 in the world, overtaking Oxford and Cambridge. Their top graduates are coming out with useful degrees like Computer Science, Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering. And it's really notable how practical and commercial…

The govt should do one for all of the nations & highlight what they’ve done to health services in Wales and how Health Care is considerably better in England than Wales.
