Growing Beyond Earth 🌎 🌱 requires hard work, but also a little help from technology. Like an astronaut, I have a lot to do while in the lab. So, I employed an @arduino board to help me grow through. Here’s how it went down🌱@GrowBeyondEarth

My Hydroponic Banksy Jar🫙explodes lettuce on harvest day! We’re doing a 3D printed materials plant growth experiment at @NASAKennedy @plantsinspace and I make up a good team 🌱🚀 #nasa #3dprint #spacebiology #veggie #aph #controlledenvironmentagriculture #scientist #engineering

Growing Beyond Earth, Herbs #2 @NASAKennedy HARVEST!! They smelled soo soo good! They all grew great, but basil 164 overshadowed all the others! Here’s how I did it. Misome #2 is next! @GrowBeyondEarth

🌾For todays third installment of #SpaceFarmingFriday let's take a look at @SAICinc's great tribute to Dr. Ray Wheeler from @NASAKennedy who has been an incredible pioneer of off-Earth agriculture! 🚀

This is an experiment that I was growing. Each cart had a different candidate irrigation system for microgravity and we grew the same plant to see how they compared to each other. These were Red Robin tomatoes that are currently growing in Veggie #Veg05 🚀 🍅

Takeaway from Veggie Lab: to give our astronauts a healthy diet as we go further into space we’ve got to learn how to grow crops. Thus far research is on pick & grow crops like butter lettuce or bok choy. @nasa #NASASocial 🚀

I think it’s cooler to see my plants and work in tweets and posts instead of myself. they always look 👀 good! 🌱🌱😃😃

Welcome to the Veggie Lab! Because there isn’t a farmer’s market in space, our scientists find way to grow plants in microgravity so that @NASA_Astronauts can enjoy fresh veggies. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at plants grown in the lab here on Earth! 🥬🍅🌱

These are pictures taken while I was an intern at @NASAKennedy We filled Greenwerks with all kinds of plants 🌱 and experiments 🧫 that work led to my job as a horticultural scientist 👨‍🔬

The Veggie Plant Growth Facility is where NASA is working toward the crucial goal of growing food in low or no gravity environments. The lab is currently growing Zinnia from seeds harvested on the ISS from Scott Kelly's plant! #NASASocial

I really got to see the NASA Veggie Lab! They research and prototype advanced methods of food production in space, on the moon, and Mars. How do we monitor the plants? How do we harvest? What is tolerant to the space environment? What do astronauts want to eat? #NASASocial

At the @NASA “Veggie Lab,” scientists and engineers replicate what the #astronauts do on the @Space_Station, but work on a two-day delay so they can plan to replicate any unforeseen circumstances. #NASASocial

Adding a little spice to life in space! #TBT to this experiment which cultivated chile peppers aboard @Space_Station for the first time. This and our other plant studies provide insight into growing food crops for long-duration space missions! Learn more: go.nasa.gov/2YN8baW

It’s so much fun to grow along with NASA as they grow plants in space. Veg-05 is growing Red Robin tomatoes 🍅 so I/we are too! 😃you should grow along too! #spacetomatochallenge @TheSpaceChileG1 🌶️🍅🚀🚀🌶️🚀🍅🍅🌱🌱🌱🚀

I’m getting ready to walk to the beach 🏝️ to see the launch 🚀 I love living on the Space Coast! #Crew6

Dr Gioia Massa is the biggest influence on my space biology self. I’m honored to say that I’m part of her team!! 😃 she is the REAL REAL space farmer. She’s growing tomatoes in Veggie right now #veg05

These are bell peppers & jalapeño, grown in space conditions. Space plant biology FTW! #NASASocial

This is my great friend Jess Bunchek. We both came up together as NASA interns. She’s world famous now. 🥹🌱🚀🌱🚀

#InternshipOpportunity @NASAKennedy in the #space plant biology lab ‘Veggie’ with Dr. Jess Bunchek. #NASASocial apply today for the Fall semester

I am just a funny scientist. I can’t believe that’s what I became. lol I’m with student Matt Hardy here. He made great contributions to a flight experiment we have coming up. Hey, thank you for sharing Trevor!!! 🌶️🚀

Spending time at @nasakennedy with #nasasocial was an unforgettable experience. Getting behind the scenes experience of what goes on in NASA broadcasts, plant biology labs, SLS operations, and learning how @iss research is paving the way for its mission to the moon 🌙👨‍🚀

This was when Lashelle Spencer and I were growing peppers while working to identify one to grow in space. In the end we grew the NUMEX Española Improved from @chilepepperinst 🌶️🌶️🌶️🚀🚀🚀🌶️🌶️🌶️🌱🌱🌶️🌱🚀

Next stop: the space plant biology lab 🌱. Here the #NASASocial group is learning how we grow plants in space aboard the @Space_Station: nasa.gov/content/growin…
