Unless the Labor voters turned out today and the Liberals all went to pre-poll, Labor is going to win the #Black by-election. A government hasn't taken a seat from the opposition at a by-election in a century and now we have two in a single term. #saparli abc.net.au/news/elections…

Interesting to see the menu from Bennelong (the restaurant in one of the sails of the Sydney Opera House) in 1984. How Australian dining has changed since then! Interesting also that in inflation-adjusted terms, the prices are pretty similar to today, too.

I know a lot of people are doing it really tough right now, so I have compassion for whomever did this. Still it hurts very deeply to be robbed when you’re a charity helping families who themselves have been forced into poverty. 2/3

Compassion means having it even when it’s hard. Today is one of those days as I came to work to discover the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre had been robbed overnight. Doors kicked in, rooms trashed, window broken, laptops stolen. Police are now assisting us. 1/3

Here is a picture of my niece who was born today in Gaza❤️. Unlike most newborns who arrive crying, she was unusually calm, as if her quiet gaze held silent messages. Despite being born amidst war and suffering, she looked at us as if to say: "Be calm; this war is nearing its…

After I retired I took a job driving a senior center bus because a friend said they needed a driver because they were short drivers. I picked up a WW2 veteran who was in his 90's. He was sharp as a tack. I picked him up numerous times. He told me he was a machinist mate on a…

I’ve been in a lot of meetings in my life. I’d say this was easily the best one ever. 5 street dogs in Thailand who could all be dead all now heading off to their forever homes in the coming weeks. Not all is bad in the world 🥰🙏 (10/10)

I remember my hubby declaring jubilantly one morning, “The baby slept through the night!” My immediate quip, “No. YOU slept through the night.”

As I tell my teenagers, be nice. But if you can't be nice, be devastating.

My big sister prepped me for my first ever job interview - just be flexible she said. Interviewer: We don’t pay very well. Me: That’s OK, I don’t work very hard.

Snickers has never played fetch in her life. As a street dog she was too busy avoiding dangers like big trucks to ever be able to relax. It only took her about 10 minutes of Teddy teaching her to learn how to bring the ball back. A beautiful moment (5/8)

Man sits by me on train. MAN: Loads of psychopaths around here ME: Really? MAN: Loads mate ME: How'd you know? MAN: There's signs aren't there? ME: I guess? MAN: I love them (47 minutes of awkward silence.) Man leaves train, he has a bike. I realise he was saying 'cycle paths'.

Good grief, this attitude could be straight out of the Taliban handbook. We should not need a man with us to be safe from creeps. The end.

Sorry, but this is "not smart". These women are telling you their experiences, and your response is, "Where are your men?" Does that even matter. How about they just want to be able to go to Walmart or walk down the street without an issue. Normal everyday stuff.

It was heartbreaking to see so many stories shared - though I’m glad so many people were able to share them. Too many men continued with their dismissive nonsense but maybe, just MAYBE at least one of them payed attention and LEARNED something. Thank you for opening the door.

From being dumped and living in a cave in Thailand on his own to his very own couch in London within just 5 months. I don’t think you will ever see a happier dog than Sandy in this pic. Sometimes dreams do come true 🥰🙏 (8/8)
