Thank you to our amazing speakers who prompted rich discussions in our first breakout session on: complexity surrounding opioid use among women, gender differences in substance use and treatment, and equity & health disparities in substance use.
We are grateful to have Dr. Angela Lee-Winn join us to share @NIDAnews funding priorities in relation to women and substance use at #InWomens2024, and how researchers can get involved in this work, both in the US and internationally.
We heard from Dr. Loretta Finnegan about the importance of ensuring access to treatment for pregnant and postpartum patients with opioid use disorder - both for the pregnant person and their baby - as well as education to destigmatize #OUD in #pregnancy.
Dr. Irma Kirtadze sheds light on the intersectional realities of migration due to war - specifically, its impact on substance use in relation to gender for migrants to Georgia.
An illuminating talk on engaging #community in cultural adaptations, as "one size does not fit all". Thanks to Dr. Kathleen Burlew and Dr. Caravella McCuistian for great insight and examples of effectively engaging our communities! #InWomens2024
