i’ve heard the same explanation/frame from the same archetype of person funnily enough. like you, i found it beautiful and i could feel the genuineness in her words - she really was doing everything to share it, and she was (psychologically) free enough to do so
Thought: Having privilege shouldn’t be a source of guilt, but gratitude. Appreciate what you have and consider 2 things: 1- How can you contribute to the lives of others so that you’re both happier? 2- In what ways might you be overlooking other people’s challenges?
This is one factor, but it also has a cultural legacy. Men had more familiarity with tech, so when video games started, it was easier for them to adopt it. Also, when you're the only one of your kind in a group, you can end up coming across as its representative; more pressure.
Men dominate gaming because they deal out toxicity and don't hold it basically. I'm friends with many guy friends and in games they'll throw the most targeted personal attacks at each other even guys who are best friends throw that childhood trauma as a punch line.
ageism is so crazy bc if someone dies at 25-35 ppl will say they died too young, so how tf are they old when alive lmaoo
"vote!" being the response to everything is so funny considering that most of this nonsense has bipartisan support. vote for whom, jimmy?
You know it's bad when James Charles gags you
They didn't cite their source, but this happens. It's why even educated people have trouble seeing the truth. Sometimes you have to just stick to your values and do what you can because you don't know enough to make an informed decision. Statistics can show you what is, not why.
In 1973, UC Berkeley was on the brink of getting sued for gender bias. Their graduate school had admitted 44% of their male applicants but only 35% of women. They hired a statistician to review their admission data, and nobody expected what they found. Their process was…
The stigma on Victor players really make sense when you realize their character entered a martial arts tournament to fight people like this:
the more i learn abt people the more it seems like 80% of dating problems arent gendered and pretending they are keeps people single and smugly miserable, and the other 20% are gendered but we're not supposed to acknowledge this for political reasons or something
I wonder if any of you will empathize with the mirror of your situation
How mad is UK infrastructure (outside London)? I'll tell you. A friend lost her job before Xmas. She has no car - never needed one before. But now she does, cos there are no jobs nearby. She just landed a job. In a car, it's 12 mins away. By public transport, almost 3 hours.
OYG! I really like this song! I was going to retweet how much I appreciated your Original post, but then I saw this too! 😇
I feel like I'm glowing today regardless of the way people treat me. I'm unstoppable today. Whenever I fight sadness I sing and dance. Today I'm singing
This! I generally don't like to view things as just "bad" or "good" it's so often misleading and subjective. I usually describe it like dealing with animals, you don't have to think of the Lion as "good" or "bad" to act accordingly. Yet, with people we forget that.
Sometimes you have to let people go. Not because they're bad people. Or because they've done something wrong. But because their vision of life is so vastly different from yours that staying would mean betraying yourself.
Don't exactly agree with this, but it's a good point. Whether or not she's sympathetic can vary depending on the person and their beliefs, but being able to understand how she is a nuanced character is something I'd appreciate in someone. They made her a clear villian AND human.
if people cannot understand that Azula is both a very sympathetic villain and also someone who has agency over her own actions and continually chooses monstrosity....I know not to trust their opinion on basically anything else

The guy I know who is the best at friendships (also a spectacular salesman) keeps proposing plans. I asked him why once & he told me: People get busy. If you want to be their friend, don’t take it personally & keep asking. He did this with me & he eventually became one of the…
