"But the conditions that threatened democracy’s demise remain, and Americans view them from very different perspectives, depending on their politics." via @GaryEFields2 apnews.com/article/2022-m…

People, their relationships & nuances can’t be captured in spreadsheet rows: "Misconceptions [have] led to ineffective engagement with these voters, who already face increasing obstacles on the path to the voting booth." @JMurguia_Unidos @Hesanche latimes.com/opinion/story/…
As the second-largest group of voting-age Americans, Latino voters can be a powerful and stabilizing force in American politics. But misconceptions about this diverse and multiracial voting community persist. More from @jmurguia_unidos and @Hesanche: latimes.com/opinion/story/…
.@votolatino partnered with @BSPresearch to field a poll of Latino voters in Texas, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Georgia going into the midterm elections and found that many are concerned about threats to democracy: medium.com/voto-latino/oc…
"Among the topics civic education should cover, likely voters ranked 'system of government' first (69%), followed by the U.S. Constitution and Founding Era (69%) and voting and political participation (63%)." @icivics @MorePerfectUS @cygnal prnewswire.com/news-releases/…

Election conspiracy theorists are running for Congress, governor & secretary of state positions that oversee elections. And an unknown # are running for the 10k positions that administer local elections & oversee the people who hand out ballots, tally votes, report results.
There are 10,000 local election administrators across the country, and hundreds of them are up for election themselves in 2 weeks, giving deniers myriad ways to take over the hands-on part of tabulating votes. My look at one such race apnews.com/article/2022-m…
"No one should be subject to harassment and intimidation in the process of casting a ballot. The right to vote is sacred, and we can't allow conspiracy theorists to use vigilante tactics to prevent anyone from casting their vote safely." — Voto Latino President @MariaTeresa

One day, we will look back at this moment and reflect on what we were doing to save our democracy. Now is no time to stay on the sidelines – because the truth is this: Our democracy, and our civil rights, don’t protect themselves. Make a plan to VOTE. vote.org
Voter intimidation has no place in our democracy. Whether you're voting by mail or in person, at a drop box or a polling place, you have the right to cast your ballot free from harassment and intimidation. If you have any issues while voting, call @866OURVOTE (866-687-8683).
71% of Americans think democracy is at risk 7% think that's the country's most important problem But a functioning democracy is critical to addressing challenges like inflation, the loss of federal abortion rights, and crime.
Inflation, abortion & crime may feel more pressing than the threat to democracy. But another factor is dampening people’s motivation to save America’s representative system of government: in states like Wisconsin, the representation part is already broken. nytimes.com/2022/10/23/us/…
Free and fair elections are critical to our democracy, so we appreciate @BrennanCenter and @VotingIsLocal sending election officials guidance about poll worker recruitment and training: floridaphoenix.com/blog/voting-ri… @MitchPerry18
