"Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to 'order' than to justice..." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Unsurprisingly, people that act consistently with principles of white supremacy do not react well when you call them out on it. And then take out their anger on people of color, sexual minorities, people with disabilities, and other disfavored groups.

Thanks to @StevieAngeles and @Patrol_Pilipino for covering @PilipinoDems’s contingent at @lapride for Filipino viewers. Shoutout @CAM2Go for the quote. 🌈 🇵🇭

Do you want change in L.A. County's judicial system? Our judges are often former prosecutors, and skew male and white. @LosAngelesFwd and @LADefensx's program (geared for prospective candidates but open to all) aims to make these seats more accessible: laist.com/news/criminal-…

Progressive anti-junta "Move Forward Party" places first in Thailand's election. Historic upset. Move Forward is backed by millions of Thai Gen Z and Millennials. A rare example where a youth movement actually won

I don’t mean to be controversial but if you underline, rather than italicize, case names in citations you are a literal monster.

Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters are the fastest-growing voter group, but many face language barriers when they vote. States and municipalities can empower #AAPI voters at the polls by providing translated materials and having bilingual poll workers. #AAPIHM

Many #AAPI voters face barriers to voting when it comes to language access at the polls. As @Tao_Minnis of @aaaj_aajc explains, there are several ways states & municipalities can provide language access support and protect the freedom to vote for AAPI voters. #AAPIMonth

It’s this part for me that is completely indefensible. Budgets are moral values—and NYC & NY State think that cops who don’t even need the equivalent of an associate’s degree should make a base salary $52,000 higher than a public defender at 5 years of experience.

How do we ask attorneys to serve the public interest when arresting someone is valued twice as much as defending that person in court? How can NYC compete against cities like those in California where the starting salary is appropriately $110,000 per year? nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-ope…

We got new data today on who voted and how in 2022. One notable finding: Among racial and ethnic groups, Asian American voters were most likely to vote early or by mail, while Black voters were the least likely. npr.org/2023/05/02/117…
