.@UWAthletics loves to brag about how highly ranked @UW is - it’s an effective marketing and recruiting tool To be a world class university you need to pay the researchers who earn you the accolades Support researchers by giving them a living wage @amcauce

We spent the day continuing to bargain with @UW Admin and we were not able to reach an agreement. @UAW4121 Postdocs were also not able to reach agreement. Both of our units will strike for fair contracts starting tomorrow.

This is happening in 20 minutes! Kick off today's strike and let's show UW that we are serious about fair labor and working conditions.

Happening TODAY @ 12pm. See you there 🪧✊

Do you have a paper you authored/co-authored that you are super proud of, yet didn't get much attention? I'd love to see it - doesn't matter your field! Reply with a short description and a link so we can all celebrate your work! @OpenAcademics @AcademicChatter

This study is amazing. I'd love to see something similar for #geography. Curious if @theAAG has published anything on the subject? Have seen articles in Professional Geographer about where undergrad geog folks end up but not PhDs.

CW: Academic Job Market This is a really long post about the academic job market and the percentage of PhDs in Theatre and Performance Studies who have gotten hired into various types of labor and the ways that people have moved in and out of the academy from 2011-2021.

The fact that some of ya'll are legitimately angry that I said that professors are not obligated to share their syllabus before the first day of class lets me know everything I need to know about America's continued lack of concern, empathy, and consideration for teacher's needs.

Just found out that another grad school colleague has left their tenure track position. This brings the count up to 5, I think. Has anyone else noticed an uptick in this, or are my acquaintances anomalies? Thoughts? @OpenAcademics #AcademicTwitter @AcademicChatter

Who else is having a tough time with the world deciding the pandemic is over? My son is high risk, my partner and I are scrambling to watch him during the day and work when we can. I'm so jealous of the people who can send their kids to daycare. @AcademicChatter

Retweeting this thread - contains lots of excellent ideas for instructors who want to help their students study better. Will definitely be using this the next time I teach to re-tool my study guides. #AcademicsWithADHD (but you don't need ADHD for this advice to be useful!)

I went camping for 10 days in summer 2020 and didn't shower the whole time. That kept people sufficiently far away from me. #socialdistancing In all seriousness, though, it does seem like a fairly obvious common courtesy. ESPECIALLY in medical offices for crying out loud
