I do feel like a lot of higher-ups in the Democratic Party have convinced themselves that Olivia Julianna and Harry Sisson constitute actual successful youth outreach when in fact it seems like their job is to convince old people that democrats are doing successful youth outreach

Donald Trump won because he offered a majority of Americans what they wanted: anger and drama, @RadioFreeTom writes in The Atlantic Daily. But those who expect that Trump will hurt others, and not them, are likely to be unpleasantly surprised. theatlantic.com/newsletters/ar…

Compare and contrast: a clip from Trump's June 2015 speech announcing his candidacy and a clip from Trump's low-energy speech today at Mar-a-Lago. The difference is jarring.

Ohio in person early voting is a joke. Each county is only allowed 1 early vote location. Franklin County, population of greater than 1.3m, has the same number of early voting locations as Vinton County, whose population is a bit shy of 13k.

the right to eat dinner in peace? sounds like an unenumerated right to me and are we sure those actually exist?

NEW: Justice Brett Kavanaugh had to exit through the rear of Morton's on Wednesday night after DC protestors showed up out front. A Morton's rep told me: "Politics … should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner." politico.com/newsletters/pl…

I’m excited to say that the curbside waste containerization pilot project is happening in HK! This is what we pushed for, because we know the status quo is not working, and we must try out new ways of putting out our garbage for collection. nyc.streetsblog.org/2022/06/27/exc…

[THREAD] Want to see what's possible when you get freeways out of downtown? When Providence relocated its I-195 freeway out of downtown, it freed up 20 acres of downtown development. Let's see what's come from this land that used to be a freeway: (1/10)

I’m not suggesting all social platforms should be public. But in physical communities we mix private and public spaces (parks, libraries) for a reason. It’s time to build healthy public spaces for digital life too. wired.com/story/to-mend-…

Instead of saying "driving is a necessity" in most places in the US, can we instead say "we've made driving a necessity"? Having to use a car is not a law of nature, it's a series of land use and transportation decisions society has done to itself... and can undo, if we want to.

Paris, 9th arrondissement. These miniature gardens used to be car parking spaces until a few years ago. The city reclaimed them, and replanted them with fruit trees and flowering shrubs 🌱

Just mind-boggling that we let this myth persist that every small business in NYC is kept afloat by people driving in from Ronkonkoma. S/M/L businesses in NYC thrive when you make it harder for drivers to speed & park on our streets, and give neighborhoods back to neighbors.

The pro-car/pro-parking folks like to ask about the business impact of Open Streets’ corridors losing parking spaces and door-to-door car access. Here’s what @EisenPress reporter in @CrainsNewYork today. crainsnewyork.com/small-business…
