Humanitarian aid is crucial for civilians fleeing conflicts. It can be a matter of life and death. Parties to conflicts must facilitate its rapid, unimpeded passage and delivery. Millions of people need humanitarian aid, without it, they won't even have the basics for survival.

Riing from @CHIDDOSSudan @Charter4Change advocates to @AidExGlobal on critical importance to local partners of flexible funding, fair ICR, programmatic multi-year funding, budget transparency + best equitable partnership practice to enable local actors to lead humanitarian action

Good points about the need for longer term food/agriculture programming in Gaza that starts restoring productive capacity here at #aidex. It’s been disappointing to see such a focus on keeping affected people completely dependent on the next aid delivery.

Interesting focus on physical #protection at #aidex. Vast majority of #humanitarians don’t have access to armored cars or PPE - it’s not what protects us. Rather it’s about #acceptance by affected people, govt. and armed groups

Listening to @gisf_ngo at @AidExGlobal ‘Local actors are being asked to do more but without the resources’. Are they? Or are international actors finally recognizing and supporting the work that local actors have quietly been doing for decades? #localization

At @AidExGlobal in Geneva, listening to colleagues discussing aid worker safety. Need to emphasize #NotATarget and that it’s normal, and should be expected, for humanitarians to speak to everyone in a context - it never implies support or partiality.

Important to remember that #humanitarian orgs didn't grow because they wanted to - they grew primarily because needs have grown. But they are not shrinking because of a fall in need, its because of a lack of political will and interest. thenewhumanitarian.org/analysis/2024/… (@newhumanitarian)

Health workers, humanitarians, children & babies are being killed in conflicts around the world. Civilians are #NotATarget. It's time for those carrying the guns to respect the rules of war. It's time for those in power to end impunity & #ActForHumanity. #WorldHumanitarianDay
