Fantastic talk by Mary McElroy from NI on training for the Advanced Specialist Diploma for scientist reporting in Histopathology! A real inspiration! 🤩 #BioMedica2023 @ACSLM1

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Vicky Phelan. She is a huge loss to Irish society. She shone light into dark and shameful corners of our health service and the failings in our screening services. Our condolences to her family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
I am going to follow this up with an email to @DublinAirport but I just wanted to publicly acknowledge the most wonderful staff member that you have in Martina Kelly. She was on duty on June 6th when our @TUIIreland flight eventually left Dublin (31+ hrs late) #giveheraraise
Many years ago, the #MedicalScientist in my life was on call over Christmas. I was 7 months pregnant, and so was worried when he left the house in the middle of the night (both for his safety and also for the safety of the patient who he was being called into work to help) 1..
I graduated from DIT Kevin St in the year 2000. My first graduate position was Medical Laboratory Technician. The following year, due to many years of campaigning, an Expert group report recommended restructuring the profession and a name change to Medical Scientist.
3/4 of my local TDs voted against. Our household will not forget this come the next election. Thank you @paulmurphy_TD for raising our grievance. #MedicalScientists deserve respect from Government.
Government votes against @pb4p motion to pay the #MedicalScientists. Shame. Up the workers!
Here's hoping these talks will result in an attractive career option for our brilliant young scientists. With adequate staff and meagre investment in their development, we can build the world class laboratory system that our patients deserve. rte.ie/news/health/20…
Brilliant reminder
Your reminder that all the healthcare disruption this week and last could have been avoided if people had listened to @orourke_darren last year. twitter.com/orourke_darren…
We are fully behind our union @MedLabAssoc and happy to suspend next weeks IA with the promise of new thinking. But be under no illusion. #MedicalScientists will accept nothing less than #equalpayforequalwork. We have waited long enough. #UnitedWeStand
Exploratory talks aimed at resolving an industrial dispute involving medical scientists will be held at the Labour Court today. @rtenews rte.ie/news/health/20…
A child understands 🥰 Hopefully the talks will be meaningful
This young patient’s poster has made the day of so many #MedicalScientists @HSE_HR @roinnslainte @DonnellyStephen @mmcgrathtd @MichealMartinTD please listen to the pleas of this child & return us to the laboratory to care for those patients that need us #equalpayforequalwork
Best of luck to the @MedLabAssoc delegation attending the LRC to represent #MedicalScientists today. Thanks to the MLSA executive, local strike committees, MLSA members & all who supported our IA for getting us to this point. #UnitedWeStand #equalpayforequalwork
MLSA industrial action suspended tomorrow with exploratory talks taking place in the Labour Court. Best of luck @MedLabAssoc @kevoboyle you have all 2,100 members behind you. Let’s hope these talks are meaningful and we can get back to providing the best service for our patients.

RTE news : Medical scientists suspend second day of strike action rte.ie/news/ireland/2…
Why is there this ridiculous dance when people with legitimate grievances have to strike? We all know govt will eventually negotiate with them, so just give these guys what they deserve and stop putting on this act to show your centre-right base that you’re “not afraid” of unions
@MedLabAssoc has made every effort to avoid #MedicalScientists Industrial Action, but has had no meaningful approach from @HSElive and @roinnslainte #medicalscientists @paulreiddublin @LeoVaradkar @DonnellyStephen @davidcullinane @RitaOReilly
MLSA Executive Committee has agreed to suspend industrial action tomorrow to attend exploratory talks at the Labour Court - Press Release: mlsa.ie/news/mlsa-susp…
To the point…..

I love how happy all the #MedicalScientists on twitter are because of this news. I love to see that the possibility of resolution has put happy faces back on people who were feeling low. Now @roinnslainte it's your turn to bring the goods to the talks
