If anyone struggles for practice papers for Lang Paper 1, I’ve just made two. Both really interesting texts as well! Used ‘A Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Jaws’. Available for free at missjohnston.com/free-resources under Y11 Reading Paper 1 🫡 @Team_English1 #TeamEnglish

A quick 🧵on standardisation vs moderation - some thoughts for Heads of Department / those who have responsibility for assessment. Let’s talk about the purpose of each, and ways to carry them out successfully. But let’s also be brief, because ya know, time is limited! 1/-

I see standardisation and moderation used interchangeably on here frequently. Both are super difficult to get right but are completely different processes.

Brilliant practical strategies from @SPryke2 at #rEDMK - excited to implement when we get back! 🔥

I was sad to find out that Kamala Harris is using AI to fake the crowds at her speeches. It’s a hard way to find out you aren’t a real person :(

I think this is right. We have ‘5 core pedagogies’ for implementing our English curriculum which incorporate techniques like MWB routines, T&T, visualisers, and a few other high impact strategies.

One of the other worries I have about the proliferation of posters and summaries and stuff is that great teaching isn't about trying to implement a bazillion different types of strategy, it's about getting into amazing habits and routines with just a few.

🌟AIC revision🌟 This statement resource on the characters (link below) works really well for AIC because it generates discussion and writing opportunities, and because it helps students to have an opinion. This year I added in a vocab list to encourage greater use of key words

In dept CPD we discussed how to make retrieval more strategic, encouraging connections between ideas. I was thinking how best to do this. This AIC resource gives students statements to debate, pulling in knowledge from across AIC….1/2

🌟A great bit of context for Macbeth (and R&J) and why Troilus and Cressida is vitally important!🌟🧵 The Great Chain of Being (deeply entrenched cultural metaphor for appreciating everyone and everything has its place in an order) is helpful for the play 'Macbeth'. 1/16
