This particular figure about a sharp decline 11-14 is v significant. We *have* to know why & do something about it. Of course, smart phones & internet may play a part. But what else? A few ideas to follow.... 1. 1. Relentless focus on reading for 'academic' success & exams....1/

⚠️Reading enjoyment has fallen across all ages.⚠️ The sharpest decline is among pupils aged 11-14 - from 40.4% in 2023 to 30.7% in 2024. As children transition to secondary school, their reading engagement dips - a trend that is worsening. Learn more: literacytrust.org.uk/research-servi…
