Special school, special units, special class, mainstream school, mainstream class are ALL PLACES OF EDUCATION & none are better than the other. As long as the individual child is being educated in the best place for them that is what is most important. Not one size fits all.

"Every child deserves to be valued, nurtured, respected & supported to reach their own full potential." Aisling McNiffe, who cares for her son Jack, is highlighting special education & the provision of vital therapies as key issues for the next govt. 🗳️#GE24 #MakeCarersCount

Entire humans Not labels or boxes We need to go back to the beginning, put the person at the centre of the frame #healthcare #EthicalDecisionMaking

She has epilepsy, intellectual disability and is autistic. They feel she has adhd but the system doesn't look at entire humans so unless we can seperate out her struggles into neat boxes she'll just fall between the cracks like she has done since the day she was born.

Families driven to extreme measures to obtain services What does a family travelling abroad, or a parent studying law, or training in SLT, tell us about where partnership & co-design are rn? If our aim is #partnership we’ve got to act on patient’s lived experience

On the hunt again for OLD style Peppa pigs for Jack, must be the TY version with beans in the bum. The modern versions in all the shops won’t do. I looked for a few this time two years ago & was lucky to get two plus a bonus big one. He loves her & is rarely seen without her. TIA

In 2017 Simon Harris was responsible for the curious contract signed for the NCH with BAM. The hospital was due to open in 2021. The question I think that’s worth asking is how was it that the then Minister Simon Harris tied tax payers into a contract that has resulted in at…

I’d just like to remind ALL political parties that none of you had the backbone to say STOP re The New Children’s Hospital & you had plenty of time to say NO, you were also well informed by Doctors, allied health professionals, parents & other stakeholders who didn’t want SJH

Can we just agree that any clinical service that has a wait list of 3-5yrs to be ASSESSED isn’t a real service? Esp. for children & YP who are hugely impacted by waiting It creates false hope in patients Doesn’t give voice/respect Breaches human right to access healthcare
