Apologies are not enough. We need answers. We need accountability. We need a statutory inquiry. There are #TooManyBadApples. In Nov '21 a YouGov poll showed just 29% of women trusted the police. How low is that figure now? crowdjustice.com/case/support-a…

Prime minister uses savile rape and abuse victims in a pathetic "look over there" attemp to deflect attention from himself. Yes it is desperate, craven and low but it is also hugely offensive and hurtful to these victims whom the state already failed for years. @BBCr4today

📣Help us challenge Priti Patel’s decision not to conduct a Statutory Inquiry re: police perpetrated violence against women & girls Read our thread of some of the issues the Inquiry refuses to look into, to see why we’re going to Court #TooManyBadApples crowdjustice.com/case/support-a…

Our data, again, highlighting the consequences of institutional failure to respond to men’s violence against women: Fifty-two of the men convicted of the manslaughter or murder of women in the ten years to 2019 were current or former members of the armed forces

Soldiers guilty of violence against women are being allowed to continue their careers — some are even promoted. Victims say the military’s archaic attitudes can have deadly consequences thetimes.co.uk/article/the-ar…

It may be going out of fashion as a fossil fuel, but this rare William IV parrot coal occasional table was popular as furniture and sold for a premium inclusive £7,500 ⁦@WoolleyWallis⁩ on 13.01.22. #antiques #coal #rare #salisbury

The Home Secretary today published the ToR for the public inquiry following the conduct of Wayne Couzens. It will remain non-statutory & wont look at any wider issues despite concerns of many front-line organisations. Our full statement here: centreforwomensjustice.org.uk/news/2022/1/10…

Pragna Patel as ever cutting through the noise & nonsense and true to the fight against sexism racism and religious fundamentalisms. @SBSisters @BBCWomansHour we owe her and @SBSisters so much. Feminism an emancipatory movement but not only women. identity politics is a barrier.

It is not as though @BBCNews did not know the murky, swirling odours surrounding dershowitz, yet they chose to give him the floor:no context, no challenge. bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-…

We share the dismay that @BBCNews chose to give analysis of maxwell result to alan dershowitz especially without setting any of his remarks in context. @bbcfeedback will be receiiving correspondence from many of us.

Good result in maxwell case thanks to the women who testified. Now the men who used these women......or do they get to just walk away?

Many thanks to @HarrietHarman for all her work on equality, justice, human rights and especially women's rights. She was a great force for good and stood up for women even when that often does you no favours in the mainstream.

Nov 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In Nov 2013, I wrote this blog about why it's the IDEVAW, not White Ribbon Day. I announced that on 25/11 I would be commemorating all women suspected to have been killed by men kareningalasmith.com/2013/11/17/25t…
