On @PostLive’s “First Look,” associate editor @CapehartJ speaks with @iarnsdorf, @EJDionne and @RameshPonnuru about Donald Trump’s personnel announcements and what to expect from the new political era in Washington. Watch more: wapo.st/4fMQRFd twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Most revealing stat I have seen since the election from @byHeatherLong: “Inflation is up almost 20% over the past four years, while wages for rank-and-file workers are up 20.5%. Under Trump: “8% inflation in his first term and 15.4% average wage gains.” washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/…

Untold story of 2024 from Jan-Werner Muller: “the center-right disappeared from the ballot.” The result: “Many Americans voted for the far right without necessarily wanting to endorse a far-right mandate…Trump will claim one anyway.” ⁦@guardiansearch.app/8HqjfBmueRrbwj…

Surprised by Trump’s win? Me, too. I thought Trump would be beaten by a mobilization of women against misogyny & the contrast of Harris’ upbeat close with Trump’s crazed, angry endgame. Inflation & the administration’s unpopularity mattered more. My column wapo.st/3Cig4cl

Kamala Harris set herself up to be a leader of the opposition, a defender of democratic rights—and to run again. “We owe our loyalty not to a president or a party but to the Constitution of the United States.” It’s time not “to throw up our hands” but to “roll up our sleeves.”

Make me think Trump thinks he’s losing!

There is absolutely no truth to this allegation. It is yet another example of disinformation. Voting in Philadelphia has been safe and secure.

It’s appropriate that Pennsylvania, with its delicately balanced electorate, might well decide the fate of a divided nation, @EJDionne writes. "Even more than other states, it showcases the sharp realignment that Trump has driven." wapo.st/4faGf35

“Hard work is good work,” Harris says in every speech. ⁦@politico⁩ informs us that today, she’s doing “seven radio interviews in each battleground state including Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan and Arizona.” politico.com/live-updates/2…

If Harris wins in PA, which is my expectation, I agree with what Greg is suggesting here: The enthusiasm of her volunteer base combined with an intense organizational effort—in red, purple & blue counties alike—will be a decisive factor.

Dem operative on the ground in Chambersburg PA (Franklin County, very Trumpy county overall) reports that a longtime resident told him he's never seen Dems so active in the town -- lots of women and young people organizing.

I am betting that a majority is exhausted by Trump and agree with Harris that we “have so much more in common than what divides us.” As James Davison Hunter has written, we must “rediscover human beings underneath the abstractions of our inflammatory symbolic politics.”

The @Taniel guide to election night is indispensable. Thanks for doing all this work, Daniel! In the old phrase, you can’t tell the players without a program. You can print this out to inform your election viewing tonight.

NEW: November is close, so it's time to launch my cheat sheet of what's on the ballot! I guide you thru *520* elections (for now) I'm watching, and why: Congress, judges, DAs, sheriffs, lawmakers, many ballot measures, AGs, & more. Bookmark & explore: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the-b…
