Whilst @TurneyBurbage residents associations keep on complaining to @MPSDulwichVllge about children cycling on pavements, they don’t pause to think about why. 🧐 Why don’t children cycle in their road and why are they permitted to cycle on the pavement on Burbage? 🤔 A 🧵 (1/6)

Driver of HEZ3926 overtakes multiple cyclists into the path of oncoming cyclists causing emergency stop - Burbage Road, Dulwich 29/6/2021. The cyclist should have submitted this to @metpoliceuk as the driver would benefit from a safer driving course. @MPSDulwichVllge

The first physical proof that sections of the ancient route Roman Watling Street survive directly beneath its modern counterpart Old Kent Road has been discovered. The 2000-year-old road ran from the Roman port at Dover (Dubris) through London (Londinium) to the West Midlands,…

⁉️Children on bikes on pavements are the hot topic for Dulwich residents associations at every Police meeting. ⚠️Never mind the HGVs like PN72HZB and the cars that frequently drive along the pavements of Dulwich. Endangering pedestrians and damaging the pavement.

The dangerous drivers of Dulwich have been at it again smashing up street furniture that has to be paid for by us out of our council taxes. This is not paid for by drivers or their insurance, as the council can’t cost effectively recover. Ashbourne Grove and Townley Rd

⚠️Another morning, and amother motorist blocking the cycle lane with ET11KJU. This time displaying a disabled badge, which doesn’t excuse parking here contrary to Rule 243. 🤔If only there was somewhere safe to park? @MPSDulwichWood

⁉️Why don’t cyclists use the cycle lane? ⚠️Because entitled drivers can’t help but break rule 243 and block safe access to a cycle lane. ND59HZA on College Road, Dulwich @MPSDulwichWood

10,056 drivers have more than 12 points on their so-called valid licence. Yet our ‘regulated’ system condones this ⁦@DVLAgovuk⁩ If these drivers were a surgeon or a pilot, would their regulators allow them to carry on with their licence intact? theguardian.com/money/2024/nov…

More than 50 people have UK driving licences with at least 30 points on them. Three drivers have over 100 points. theguardian.com/money/2024/nov…

This guy: ✅ 41mph in a 30 ✅ Kills someone ✅ Drives off ✅ No prison Charles Allison: ✅ 18mph on a bike (with no brakes) ✅ Kills someone ✖️ Doesn't leave ✅ 18 months prison ✅ Calls to change law to make it easier to send cyclists to prison Make it make sense

A hit-and-run speeding driver who pleaded guilty to careless driving which caused the death of a pedestrian has been sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work and a 27-month driving ban. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

In a rare outing for our opinion site, I’ve written about why councils seeking to ban bikes from city centres due to delivery bikes are treating it as a “cycling problem” when it’s actually a law enforcement problem - these are mainly electric mopeds. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Fossil fuel cars: £4Bn subsidy - even as tax on EVs increases - and ££Bn new roads. Walking, wheeling, cycling: £100m between all three - despite being a health and climate investment as well as transport. Buses: fares up. TfL: fares up (for those that pay - mostly workers). 😞

More excellent policy on transport. This is **another** terrible idea from Labour "head office". Government wants London Tube and bus fare increase bbc.com/news/articles/…

This is why it’s wrong to freeze fuel duty while hiking bus fares by 50%.

the £3 billion annual cost of extending the 5p fuel duty cut is roughly equivalent to the annual fare take of every bus in England — £3.1 billion in 2023. so you could nearly make every bus free for the same cost gov.uk/government/sta…

This is why you should NEVER react if you are a cyclist who is the victim of dangerous driving, because the police and courts will look for ANY reason they can to excuse the driver's behaviour and make it your fault. road.cc/content/news/n…

Remember that time an SUV driver close passed a cyclist at high speed on a country lane, then reversed back towards them forcing a quad bike rider into a ditch and killing a dog, because the cyclist shouted at them? And then the police blamed the cyclist and let the driver off?
