With lots of new followers here, it’s probably time to post this again. 💜 These are some of the daily reminders I wish I could have had when I was a PhD student. More #AcademicMentalHealth art with the wonderful @LuciaTypes coming hopefully later this year. ☺️

Every academic ever

Please could somebody make me a coffee so I can keep working on this chapter and also, if it's not too much trouble, could you finish this chapter for me. Thanks in advance.

I’m entering hospice today. Will probably update every little if at all. But I wanted to say to be kind, be brave, be principled, be an idealist. Most importantly, be a decent human. I love that we existed together, in this moment of time.

Friends who are still on this website: I passed my PhD. One of the examiners said it was an "extraordinary body of work" and "of a shape and sensibility I have not encountered before". February graduation, here we come!

PhD student and postdoc friends! I'm conducting a paid 5-10 minute online survey on experiences receiving feedback in academia. Have a few minutes to spare? I'd LOVE to hear from you. 👋🏼😊 hbs.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_88…

dear academics (mostly humanities): you can heal from whatever traumas drove you into academia in the first place by releasing “academic” as an identity and letting it just be a job. and whatever we thought it was is pretty much gone anyways.

I am so incredibly happy that I have been granted a research-only semester next year, which means: ✅ I can write my next book! ✅ I can launch an international symposium to share #AcademicMentalHealth research! So grateful that after 10 years this finally happened. 😭🙏🏻💗
