I’m not saying this because I am a part of this work, but this is an amazing work! Led by amazingly smart & talented @iamamardeeep

In this bioRxiv preprint, we (@_KevinCorbett ) present the architecture and activation mechanism of the PARIS antiviral defense system. Thanks to our co-authors, @Lisa_Liang13, @EnustunEray, and @PoglianoJoe, for their support in shedding light on this Anti-anti-defense system.🧵

1/ I've been waiting too long to share this. variability refinement allows to refine an ensemble of PDBs in an ensemble of maps from 3DVA @cryosparc or multibody ref. in @RELION #cryoEM. Available in Phenix

1/ Very excited to present cryoSTAR, a novel approach for continuous heterogeneity in SPA cryo-EM. In brief, cryoSTAR leverages the prior knowledge from a user-given atomic model to better find dynamics in the final reconstruction. bytedance.github.io/cryostar/ biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

All postdocs in my lab are paid in the range of 85-95K. One of the reasons I can't go beyond is (reverse) equity concerns from HR. I would ideally pay them 105-115K. I think that's how much I could afford based on funding I can pull in & reducing lab size to a functional minimum.

oh you’re hiring a grad student/postdoc? don’t be shy babe show us the salary

an important review in this field I think!

What does “abortive infection” even mean, really?? Happy to share our opinion paper at @TrendsMicrobiol, where we highlight some problems with the prevalent abi/non-abi distinction within anti-phage defense, and propose an alternative framework. authors.elsevier.com/c/1hALt,L~yCn7…
