Earlier this afternoon, there was a rollover accident on Badger Mountain Road at Milepost 5 involving a cement truck. The road is currently open. The road will be closing at approximately 6 pm for removal of the vehicle. Removal may take up to 2 hours, please avoid the area.

#BattermanFire Fire was declared 100% contained today. Small group of personnel will patrol/monitor the fire scene through Tuesday 7/13. All road closures and evacuations have been lifted for the affected areas. This will be the final update from our office for the fire.


#BattermanFire Effective immediately all evacuation levels for all residents affected by the fire are being lowered to Level 1. Please be aware there is areas of active fire and everyone needs to remain on alert until full fire containment is obtained.


#BattermanFire The following road closures were lifted this afternoon: Saunders Ave./Batterman Rd./Ward Ave./4th Street SE and Grant Road/Pangborn Dr. at the roundabout. All other listed road closures remain in effect.


#BattermanFire New Level 2 evacuation levels are being set for the following areas: Both sides of Road S SW (Beaver Creek Rd), Portions of Road 9 SW, Road R SW and Road 9.5 SW which feed off of Road S SW. Deputies are currently in the area now providing verbal/written notices.


#BattermanFire Evacuation Level Correction Update - There have been no evacuation levels set for Indian Camp Road, as is being reported on various media sites. Douglas County Sheriff's Office will continue to post updates of all changes in evacuation levels.


#BattermanFire Fire size this morning is estimated at approximately 2500 acres with 10% containment. Local resources are being relieved by State Mobilization resources. State Incident Management Team is in place to manage on-going suppression efforts.


#BattermanFire Level 1 Evacuation Notices are now being issued for the Palisades.


#BattermanFire Local resources will continue to stay engaged on the fire through the night as State Incident Management Team resources continue to arrive in the area.


#BattermanFire Fire is currently 1600+ acres. New Level 3 evacuation notice from Moses Stool, down Rock Island Grade Road to SR 28. All of Rock Island Grade Road is now closed. Please continue to avoid the area and do not drive around non-staffed road closures.


#BattermanFire State Mobilization was authorized by WSP Chief John Batiste at 3:30 PM. Fire size now estimated over 1000 acres with approx. 80 homes under various evacuation level notifications. There have been no report of any injuries or structure losses at this time.


#BattermanFire Emergency Shelter for all residents currently under Level 3 evacuation notices has been established by the Red Cross at Eastmont High School.


#BattermanFire Fire size is now estimated in excess of 750 acres with wind causing rapid fire growth. Multiple structures are threatened and under evacuation notifications. Process is currently underway to request State Mobilization.
