Very quietly and inconspicuously, one of our bald eagles, Murphy (male) has built an extremely simple nest on the ground and is incubating his single “egg” very carefully and attentively. We wish Murphy all the luck in the world, but we have yet to see a rock hatch. 🥹
A close-up hello from Lewis! Lewis is one of 5 bald eagles living in our giant eagle aviary at World Bird Sanctuary. Lewis is a 2002 hatch from Washington State. His sibling apparently pushed him out of the nest as a youngster, and he suffered a bad pelvic injury.

Happy Birthday to our beloved @DollyParton! In 1991, Dolly founded Eagle Mountain Sanctuary with AEF at Dollywood. We will establish a Monarch Waystation at Project Eagle in her honor. Dolly once said that she related to eagles, somehow. We agree: she’s an eagle when she flies!
