“I could feel stress, you know what stress feels like. It's tension, it's tightness, irritation, and agitation, then it's the inability to stay fully present..." From Djuna, who I interviewed for Overcoming Burnout. #Burnout #Books

“I realized there was a breaking point, and I had to have some self-respect for myself again,” This is the self-awareness that many discover far too late when it comes to #burnout. From Courtney, who I interviewed for Overcoming Burnout.

I had an awesome discussion with Chuck Wisner this past week. He is the author of "The Art of Conscious Conversations: Transforming How We Talk, Listen, and Interact," He provides some solid tips for improving communication in any business setting.

Remote work has been great for many and has been a game-changer, especially when it comes to family commitments. What has not been so great is the never-ending connectivity we seem to be engaged in.

Uncertainty and ambiguity will contribute to #burnout. Rapid changes can create an atmosphere of uncertainty and people do not like that. Whether it's an organizational #change or an industry-wide shift, change can make many uncomfortable and cause them to feel burned out.

What did I learn from writing the book Overcoming Burnout? I learned a ton of things. I interviewed over 20 people but there were certain discussions that came up over and over again. Is there more? You bet! #Burnout

Toxic productivity is a major driver for burnout, but individuals must start to take control. -Be more methodical about managing time. -Understanding capacity. -Being less available (more focus time) -Pushing back respectfully. -Leave the office on time. #Burnout

Burnout is a complex issue, to say the least. A demanding workload...working long hours, are only scratching the surface of what contributes to burnout. We need to understand that many more factors can make a person feel burned out. And it's different for everyone. #Burnout

Sound familiar??

Time estimates: “Give me one sec” - Within the hour “I’ll be one minute” - An hour or two “I’m on it” - Maybe today "In a bit" - Sometime this week “It’s on my list” - Perhaps this month "Leave it with me" - Possibly never “If I have time” - Never

People who pitch me on my #ADHD podcast to talk about mastering multitasking…#BangHeadHere

We need to understand that being a caregiver is another major contributor to feeling burned out. Being a caregiver is a major responsibility, and it is not one we can walk away from. Many caregivers are feeling the effects of burnout. #Burnout #caregiver #Workplace #HR

What are they always cutting vegetables in pharmaceutical ads?

Get outside. No one is going to miss you for 30 minutes.

People often discuss overwork as the cause of burnout, but what about your values? Many experience #burnout when their values are not aligned with their work or life because they feel a sense of conflict between what they believe is important and their job or #career.

Just tore into an incompetent “PR person” pitching my podcast completely off-topic. Because I'm just in that type of mood… my goodness people, do your research.

Oh look it’s #ADHD heaven…

Go outside! (For everyone who can’t read my scribble…) Your well-being will thank you. One big factor in burnout is not managing our energy properly. Go get some fresh air!
