UK's #CCS plans aren't just costly—scientists warn they'll worsen climate change. Instead of throwing billions at polluters, let’s invest in real solutions: renewables, energy efficiency & restoring nature. Time to rethink our path. 🌍 #NetZero #ClimateCrisis #NoMoreGreenwash

Letter from leading scientists calling for the Gov to halt & re-assess carbon capture plans. We know the previous Gov was captured by Big Oil. Labour now really needs to listen to these experts. theguardian.com/environment/20… Key points 🧵 @campaigncc @Andrew9Boswell @KevinClimate

Wind and solar power are reducing outages in the USA and the UK as well davidtoke.substack.com/p/renewables-b…

Wind & solar aren't causing more outages—they're powering reliability! 💡 Germany proves it: with 33% of electricity from wind+solar in 2022, power interruptions dropped 43% compared to 2006, when renewables were just 5%. Clean energy works. 🌍⚡ #Renewables #EnergyTransition

The big problem for the ‘renewables can’t cut it, let’s build nuclear’ cheerleaders is we’ve seen this movie before. They’ll make it harder to deliver renewables projects but then they won’t actually build any new nuclear any time soon. The big winner would be gas.

Here's more evidence that immigration has exploded because of Brexit. Since EU workers left, those who've been brought in to replace them have come from so far away that they need to bring their families with them. If they can't do that, they won't come. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Hi folks, why don't you join me and other cool people at bluesky. I'm at @davidtoke.bsky.social I'll be posting more on there in future

The number of my followers on Bluesky seem to be increasing as fast as my followers on twitter are declining. That’s a coincidence innit!

if you want to build a fence on a farm you don't need planning permission, but if the fence consists of solar panels you need to apply for consent. Where's the sense in that?

NFU President Tom Bradshaw calls for permitted development rights for farmers to build small scale wind and solar to power their local communities. He said Labour hasn’t kept promises for positive actions for farmers but done “one thing they promised they wouldn’t do”- APR

good grief - my follower number is going down, down down. You'd think they were migrating somewhere else. Blue sky thinking perhaps?

Offshore solar pv

China connects part of its first 1-GW offshore solar PV farm to the grid and completes a 3-GW PV farm (2nd-largest in the world) at an old coal mine. reneweconomy.com.au/china-floats-i… @renew_economy
