I don't know who needs to hear this, but you can be an amazing parent AND chase your dreams. All it takes is a different approach. Productivity bros don't understand what it's like for busy parents with young children. It's easy to do it all when you have no responsibility.

This is a solid list. Support your favorite authors!

Okay, in an effort to NOT think about politics (I live in a swing state, so you can imagine where my head is right now) I'm going to talk about ways you can support authors without spending a dime! (Though, maybe a few minutes of your time!) First up, follow us on Amazon.

You know those freeway billboards "today is the day to prepare to meet God" ? Well, I'm telling you, today is the day to prepare for 2025. If you want to make a change don't waste two months waiting for the "New Year."

On October 26th, 1881, four lawmen, including Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, exchanged gunfire with five outlaws, killing three of them, at the “Shootout at the O.K. Corral” in Tombstone, Arizona. Read more about what happened on this date: apnews.com/today-in-histo…

We need to stop painting phones as evil and realize the problem is our lack of discipline. Your phone is a tool, not a toxin. Learn to use it and don't let it use you. I just spent the last hour and a half working off my phone from the rocking chair with a sleeping baby in my…

I love that there is now a database of all different kinds of writing styles on the Internet. The popular prose on this X place is getting stale. Time for new/old wordsmithing to make a comeback!

Announcing: Writing Examples Today is launch day! We built this website to celebrate great writing. It’s 100% free. Each article deconstructs a piece of writing from an iconic writer. The goal is to give you X-Ray vision into what makes sentences and paragraphs come alive (so…

The reality is, overnight success is plural.

"Stand beside her and guide her, Through the night with the light from above." It was five minutes before the Friday evening lighting ceremony at Mt. Rushmore began. The audience sat in the amphitheater, watching the night creep across the stoic stone faces on the mountain…

The biggest mistake people who "write well" make? They say too much. Your email/presentation/report is too long and full of too much fluff that nobody cares about. Get to the point. Say less.

I used to listen to podcasts and audiobooks like learning was a hot dog speed eating contest. Now I take drives in silence and give myself time to think. At some point, more info only makes you anxious and stressed.

What is the greatest end of summer song of all-time? My vote is Anything But Mine by Kenny Chesney.

New authors: If someone asks about or buys your book and never mentions it again they: - Haven't read it - Didn't like it and don't want to tell you - Are busy and forgot to tell you what they thought Whatever the reason, asking them if they've read it yet is the wrong move.

As a parent with young children or babies you gotta decide: Do I really care about finding "flow" or am I just going to do the dang thing? Mornings, nights, all that matters is when a 10 minute block opens up. Save time blocking for the people that have time to block.

Most "productivity" advice is more guideline than actual rule. And for every "rule" there is an equal and opposite rule. "Don't work too hard you'll burn out." "If you aren't work willing to work hard and sacrifice you'll never make it." The only absolute is balance.

Recognizing burnout: For me, the warning siren isn't when I don't want to do anything. By then it's too late. It's the previous days/week where I've made it through my list for the day and start manically wondering what else I can shove on my plate. That's the danger zone.
