Whalers were relentless too. In April 1927, 229 fin whales were killed in a single cell. Imagine even seeing 229 fin whales in a month. You have to wonder how many more were around for them to catch that many. 3/n

Chile🇨🇱 will lead on the #BBNJ First Movers initiative which will designate High Seas #MPAs as soon as the #BBNJ Treaty enters into force. @MMAChile @Maisa_Rojas remarked on the need to get 60 ratifications by next June to be able to achieve #30x30.
