Convenient that CA just voted not to ban indentured servitude of incarcerated individuals.
A photo I took of incarcerated firefighters resting after fighting a SoCal wildfire. They get $2-$5/day for that work. W/ Republicans likely allowing federal firefighter pay to be cut soon, many may quit, pushing California to increase its reliance on its incarcerated workforce.
In the 1970s a small town in rural West Virginia desperately needed a bridge, but after years of inaction by US legislators, the mayor reached out to the USSR for help. Within hours of a Soviet reporter arriving, the WV governor announced a new bridge would be built.
The PRC supplied paved roads, electricity, running water, and internet access to all its remotest rural villages, while the U.S. and Canada keep depriving their rural indigenous communities of the resources to provide any of those things. Of course they want to deal with China.
