Not the best photos, but 4 moths of 4 species last night was more than I expected.

I was already feeling pretty chuffed, and then the unthinkable happened here in the migrant desert that is Cromford. Only a Delicate! It's probably the 4th or 5th record for VC57.

A quick check of the rooftop actinic revealed a single noctuid. On inspection, it's a Brick! 😃🥳 A longtime bogey moth for me, so nfg and also brings up 400 for the year. Better pics tomorrow, hopefully.

Another good trap for the season, with 29/11. And lo it came to pass that Merv did visit (x2)!🥳

I held on to this one as a potential Grey Pine Carpet, but I'm still not sure. It's a bit worn but appears more of a pink-brown colour with a very long abdomen and smaller than adjacent Spruce Carpet. Any thoughts guys?

37 moths is a good number here in late October, but nothing new (potential Grey Pine to assess). Red-green 13, Black Rustic, Angle Shades, F Thorn 2, Mottled Umber 2, Spruce 5, Juniper 2, Epirrita 4.

25 of 8 last night in Cromford. The main surprise was a late Orange Sallow, which didn't hang about! Also of note 10 Red-green Carpet.

A couple for your appraisal, please @FlyinginFordham A LBbYU on 27/10 has to be worth another look? Also, what I think is a late S. ambigualis?

It turned into a reasonable night, here in Cromford, with 24/12. Feathered Thorn 6, Mottled Umber 2, December Moth, Silver Y, Juniper Carpet 4, Acleris sparsana, and what is probably a late Scoparia ambigualis?
