When you pray, God hears. So pray. And watch. God will act.

“Works contribute nothing to justification.” Luther

“It is a great shame and dishonor to God if we—to whom He offers and pledges so many inexpressible treasures—despise the treasures or do not have the confidence to receive them, but hardly dare to pray for a piece of bread.” Luther, on the second petition of the Lord’s Prayer

If God did not intend to hallow His name, display His kingdom and will on earth as it is in heaven, give us our daily bread, forgive us as we forgive our debtors, lead us away from temptation, and deliver us from evil — He’d never have commanded us to pray for those things.

When you pray the Lord’s Prayer: 1) You pray the same prayer as every saint who ever lived. 2) You pray it with the same faith (no matter how strong or weak) as every saint who ever lived 3) You pray it with the same need and desperation as every saint who ever lived —or more.

I’m not saying I’m putting my trust in horses and chariots, but Baton Rouge just elected a conservative mayor for the first time in 20 years. A godly and humble public servant too… Praise God for his mercy!

Desire to do good works today. Love God. Love your neighbor. Know that God is pleased with even your feeblest efforts, because they are wrapped up in Christ by faith. His merit is yours. So go. And do. And work. And strive. In His Spirit. By Grace.

Just got these ESV Spiral-Bound Journaling Bibles by @crossway from @Christianbook for 50% off over the weekend! Looking forward to using them as I continue to go through Isaiah in December and then the Psalms to begin the new year! 🥹🤤

“You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.” Isaiah 12:1 ESV

The Lord never tires of handing out forgiveness.

I love Advent. 💙🤍

“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.” Psalm 145:8-9 ESV

The reason God gives new mercies every morning isn’t because you earned it yesterday. Be humble.

It would be best if the first words we spoke each day were TO God (in prayer). But if that is not the case, at least we should speak to and treat others as if it were.

Remember your baptism.

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” Who could refuse such an offer? What kind of self delusion must one be under to reject such grace?

Christian Nationalism fails to recognize one, fundamental thing: you cannot preserve or further justice by law. If you’re going to establish a Christian nation, you must do it in the hearts of the people FIRST. You cannot put the cart before the horse.
