NASA's outgoing administrator Bill Nelson: We've decided to keep the Artemis II spacecraft flight plan as-is, with a modified reentry trajectory to address concerns with the Orion spacecraft heat shield. Launch of Artemis II now targeted for April 2026. Artemis III in mid-2027.

The first image taken on the surface of another planet. Ever. This is Venus, taken on 20 October 1975 by the Soviet Venera 9 lander. The top frame is the raw 6-bit data, the bottom frame restored by Don Mitchell (@DonaldM38768041). The surface was 475°C and 9200 kPa.
