One of last units to operate Vampire T.11s was the Central Air Traffic Control School Shawbury, being easy to spot in having a large letter aircraft code on the forward fuselage. This exemplified here by XD600-A, on a visit to Little Rissington in 1961. credit Ray Deacon

The Payen Pa.48 ‘Mars’ was a 1946 design for a single-seat tailless interceptor powered by a Hispano-Suiza Nene turbojet engine. It should have had an estimated top speed of 1300 km/h. A flight demonstrator, the small Payen Pa-49 ‘Katy’, was produced and flew.

The Payen Pa-49 ‘Katy’ in its 1951 configuration, its landing gear was later re-cast to facilitate take-off. This small technological demonstrator powered by a small Turboméca ‘Palas’ turbojet engine made mini-flights in 1953 and actually flew in 1954.
