New flask decanter, unabashedly inspired by @DavidMarra required a very special inaugural wine. 2015 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino certainly fits the bill. Their wines are so elegant and this is another glorious example. My goodness. Is this the benchmark Brunello?

Wonderful tasting looking at 2014 Burgundies which expanded to include some 2015 and 2018 vintages too 😂 My top 3 favorites were: Jadot’s Clos St Jacques (opulent and delicious) & Grands Echezeaux (structured and intense) and Vogue’s Bonnes Mares (still young but enjoyable)!

The Full Monty: • 2011 Bouchard Montrachet - a white that dreams are made of • Bouchard's vines are b/w DRC and Ramonet • I recently learned that wine from the Chassagne side is usually known as "Le Montrachet" while wine from the Puligny side is known as "Montrachet".

Now this is delicious. Domaine la Soumade Rasteau ‘Cuvée Confiance’ 2020. Made from 50-100yr old vines, 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Rasteau is one of the top villages of the Rhone. The red appellation was only approved since 2009 vintage. caros.co.nz/2020-soumade-r…
