👑Carmarthenshire County Council unanimously backs motion calling for the devolution of the Crown Estate to Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿The move sees the Council joining Swansea & Monmouthshire in calls to devolve the CE. 💰Gwynedd has refused to pay £161k to the CE for public access to beaches.

Diolch Cyngor Sir Gâr! If every local authority followed suit, it would put enormous pressure on Welsh Gov to ensure Wales gets the same financial benefits as Scotland - estimated to be about £850 million a year. Imagine how this would help hospitals, schools, transport etc.

Labour used to agree with us that we need to devolve the £853m-worth Crown Estate. Now they're in government, they're denying Wales this opportunity. Plaid Cymru will always put Wales' best interests first and demand the powers that would directly benefit our communities. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The ‘nations and regions envoy’ was always a non-job created by Keir Starmer as a tool to try and fix Labour’s internal problems. This whole episode has been insulting to Wales, Scotland and northern Ireland.

Sue Gray will not take up her post as PM Keir Starmer's envoy to the nations and regions, it is understood bbc.in/4fzwwTU

Another example of the many outdated and archaic rules that still exist in Westminster. Is this really a way to run a Parliament in the 21st century?

I’ve been bobbing for 4 hours to speak on behalf of my constituents in the debate on rural affairs. I was on the speaking list. But I’ve not been called, and now the debate is winding up. Third time this has happened. This deeply uneven debate time undermines our Parliament.

It’s been an honour canvassing this week with Leticia Gonzalez @letiage89, Plaid Cymru’s candidate for the upcoming Splott by-election! Leti is an inspiring young woman to be campaigning for. She is truly committed to listening to residents and tackling the issues that matter.

Brexit is making it almost impossible for Welsh artists to tour in the EU, because of high costs and paperwork. I spoke to @BBCWales about this on the day that @SeneddCultureIR published a report into the problems. Rhaid i'r sector gweld newid yn gyflym.

Events in the USA represent a backward step for women’s rights, global stability and the struggle against increasingly regressive forces in our politics. 1/2

An important point made by @llinos_medi here. Disappointing to see the PM not acknowledging the budget impact on the social care sector in his answer. Care homes are already under immense pressure.

A 10% rise in costs for Glan Rhos, and the PM offered nothing but vague answers in #PMQs today. I demanded Labour to reconsider their budget to support our care homes and to protect Ynys Môn’s elderly. It’s clear - more pressure is needed if we want real change.

Westminster has at last conceded money for coal tip safety - but the £25m set aside is nowhere near what's needed. I pressed the First Minister about this issue, to demand that the tips be cleared at Westminster's expense. Our valleys have waited for too long under their shadow.

In 2022-2023 the Crown Estate generated over £100m for Scottish communities. Just imagine the impact it would have on Wales if we had similar powers… Giving Wales full control of its Crown Estate would be a great way to support our local communities. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

🧵With the boom of off-shore energy projects and the huge potential the coast of Ynys Môn offers, @CarmenRiaSmith sums it up perfectly: “We believe that profits generated from the Welsh Crown Estate should be invested directly in Welsh communities – not diverted to Westminster.”

A positive step forward, but it doesn’t go far enough in giving Wales the powers and the economic benefits which are rightfully ours. Scotland have had full control over management of the Crown Estate since 2017. Why is Wales being treated differently? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
