Here's a sneak preview of Elgar's The Shower, part of our summer concert programme 😎 Join us at Queens' College Chapel on Saturday for 'In the Beginning' - more details here: cambridgechorale.org.uk/concerts/in-th… fb.watch/lCGE9DR-DM/ via @FacebookWatch
Absolutely spellbinding Lamentations (Tallis & Robert White) by @CambChorale yesterday evening. So lovely to be invited to their first concert with new director Robert Brooks!
It’s March, and in less than 4 months we will lose our *only* national broadcasting choir. It’s hard to overstate the enormity of the BBC’s decision to get rid of the @BBCSingers, but the death knell for music in the UK sounds ever louder.
The MU is in urgent talks with the BBC to save musicians’ jobs following the corporation’s proposals to cut employed posts across BBC Singers and three orchestras [Thread]
Sadly my current time zone prevented me from signing this letter before it was sent, but as Principal Guest Conductor of the Singers I want to add my wholehearted agreement and support of the statements within. #wearetheBBCSingers
Last night we said our goodbyes to @owainpark and welcomed Robert Brooks as our new MD. There was much laughter, some tears and, in true Cambridge Chorale style, a lot of cake!
Well it's a wrap. Recording done. Thanks to all involved, but special, heartfelt thanks to @owainpark for seven years of amazing music-making. Definitely leaving us on a high. Big things ahead for you and we feel really privileged to have been a small part of your story!
Our second day of recording is over, and what a marathon it was! Lots of lovely tunes to enjoy, including choir favourites ‘In the stillness’ by Sally Beamish, & Ben Parry’s jolly arrangement of ‘Jingle Bells’. 🔔 We’re looking forward to getting everything in the can today! 💿
We’ve finished our first day of recording, and thank goodness for cake! 🧁 We’re making an album of festive favourites this weekend, for release later this year. It’s our last project with MD @owainpark, and on the menu (aside from blueberry sponge) was his Five Carols. ✨
Some good news for a Tuesday morning. We are pleased to share that our Christmas campaign to raise money for @maggiescambs totalled £716.40 (plus gift aid for online donations). It really will make a difference to cancer patients and their families. Thank you for your support!
This Christmas Eve we hope that you will once again enjoy the carols we recorded in 2020. Our collection for Maggie’s Cancer Care in Cambridge s still open here: bit.ly/3WLnxWl Wishing you all a very merry Christmas! youtu.be/nF7frxxxtfA
