Thanks to Niall Hammond who shot this amazing drone footage of 5526 hauling 'The Polar Express' today. The train has just emerged from Church Bridge at Cholsey and is heading down 'sewer straight' with Cholsey Church and Manor Farm in the background, heading towards Wallingford.

The last train to Wallingford is just about to depart platform 5! Great evening with Amwell Springs Brewery trundling up and down the branch.

Plenty of space available on our Amwell Springs trains tonight. Pay on the train or at the station. The bar will be open at Wallingford Station so pop down for a train ride and a pint from 4pm!

The original Wallingford Station!

A far cry from Basingstoke, #whatstation 833 is an island platform where a line peters out between two yards, one tidy, the other a mess of oil drums and tractor tyres. Passenger facilities: a mean canopied shelter and random huts. Can anyone name this bustling terminus, please?

Trip on @CWRailway yesterday caused me to dig out Dad's Cholsey shot; April 1968 featuring @DidcotRailwayC loco 1466. I cant remember the trip I was only 7 mths old! Was the early days of the heritage railway movement which has flourished since, @railway200 @RailwayMagazine

Smashing afternoon in Wallingford; great stepping off a main line @GWRHelp train onto a steam hauled @CWRailway train at Cholsey to make final part of the journey by steam with a Bristol built loco. #GWR #branchline @RailwayMagazine #visitoxfordshire

Quite the contrast at Cholsey station, where a vintage Bristol-built saddle tank from the Somerset coalfields heads up the Wallingford branch, flanked by high speed trains racing by up the Great Western mainline
