Check out this poem on RCChurch rejection of women. Powerful. ‘Praying hands by man have become swords in my back’ @CWOcampaign @dearmisskate Thanks @natemup @MiriamTDuignan @BirgitteUna

In a poem on our new state of affairs, @honeybjackson brings us to a Catholic liturgy where the sign of peace has become a signal of false hope, and the Our Father a reminder of our lack of agape love. "5:30 MASS": a poem. blackcatholicmessenger.org/530-mass-poem/

The Synod has left many of us feeling angry. They kept saying they would look at the issue of women’s role, but how many hundreds of years do they need to do what is right? theguardian.com/world/2024/nov…

I agree wholeheartedly with @Pontifex I hope and pray that one day he is able to see this also applies to RC women.

Each of us is called to oppose any form of violence against women and girls. We must work together to ensure that the human rights and dignity of every person are recognized.

Did you know that the Vatican did not codify its stance on abortion until 1917? It’s true! Abortion has been a part of Catholic life for thousands of years, and it is only recently that the church hierarchy has made restricting reproductive freedom a priority.

Other phrases bandied about: Not ripe”...“No room for positive decision”...“Niche issue”...“Rushing… is not the way to promote women today”...“Further study is needed” ...“More maturation is needed”...“A step by step approach”...“When the time is right” 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣😭😱

Women are 1/2 the church but labelled a problem in a miogynistic patriarchal institution. Likewise LGBTQ+ , divorced Catholics, married priests and so on.  Join us on 14th Nov to discuss being Outside the Synod and what we are doing about it. Register at: shorturl.at/W2KqT

Why is this photo and everything about it making me so uncomfortable?

The Vatican has unveiled the official mascot of the Holy Year 2025: Luce (Italian for Light). Archbishop Fisichella says the mascot was inspired by the Church's desire "to live even within the pop culture so beloved by our youth."

Abortion bans kill another woman. On the day of her baby shower, Nevaeh Crain went to the ER bleeding & feverish. She was diagnosed with sepsis, a deadly infection - but her fetus still had a heart beat. She was sent home. After her 3rd ER visit, she died. propublica.org/article/nevaeh…

I've been reading @propublica's stories on the deaths of women from abortion bans with a mix of admiration for their reporting and grief for these avoidable losses. But the story published today has a major oversight. The hospital where this teenager died was Catholic.

Pro life?? Women's lives are expendable. Widowed father, motherless child; who cares?

A Texas woman died after the hospital said it would be a crime to intervene in her miscarriage Via @propublica: bit.ly/3Uu6Tvr

The Taliban has banned women from speaking to one another. Khalid Hanafi, Taliban’s minister for virtue and vice, declared it forbidden for adult women to let their voices be heard by other women, further restricting existing bans on speaking and showing their faces in public.

It is outrageous that many churches have a difficult time with the idea that adults can be abused. There’s an idea that if you are an adult, then a pastor can’t abuse you. Do we not understand the power that comes with the position of being a pastor? If not, we are deceived.

Does 'male matter' alone maketh the man? What wonderful timing for this question to be raised after the sexist stalemate of the Synod. #OrdainWomen
