The degree to which researchers in animal models completely ignore plants when making sweeping generalizations about phenomena common to all eukaryotes is disappointing, particularly when the plant research is obviously relevant.

What are the immediate consequences of genome doubling on chromatin accessibility & transcription, and how do these change over evolution? Read our latest paper in @MolBioEvol to find out! Big shoutout to co-authors @KBomblies and @AdriGonzalo ✨ [1/6] academic.oup.com/mbe/advance-ar…

As a proud co-advisor of @SodaiL who showed remarkable intellectual independence to enable this project, check out his amazing R package {phylomapr} and new {myTAI2} functions which will make your own research much easier: 🧑‍💻 github.com/LotharukpongJS… 🍸 github.com/drostlab/myTAI

A rare find in developmental #biology by @SodaiL! The latest @Nature research reveals #BrownAlgae Fucus follows the #HourglassModel, similar to plants & animals. This confirms that specific developmental phases are crucial for life's complexity. Read up: twtr.to/zXzpd⌛️

A transcriptomic molecular hourglass in the third most complex multicellular eukaryotic group! Congratulations to all authors, very nice job 🦠

Does the aggregation of complex multicellularity follow a universal developmental pattern across the eukaryotic tree of life? Thrilled to announce that we found a convergently evolved transcriptomic hourglass pattern in brown algal development. @Nature 👉nature.com/articles/s4158…

Wonderful news!! #sRNA rules!!🎊 Very very well deserved, but the importance of miRNA research on plants have been overlooked again.🌱 #plantblindness

BREAKING NEWS The 2024 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.

Really enjoyed writing this @NaturePlants news featuring the work by Yuan et al. rdcu.be/dVSnS showing that RNA polymerase V (Pol V) plays a role in regulating plant immunity, independently of its well-established function in RdDM and DNA methylation!🧐🧬🍃🌱

New Article: "An RdDM-independent function of Pol V transcripts in gene regulation and plant defence" rdcu.be/dVzZd With News & Views: "RNA polymerase V: From RdDM to plant defence" rdcu.be/dVz0c

Sixteen years ago I went to Portugal to start my lab in this unique place. I am VERY sad to see it in its ashes now. RIP IGC and thank you to all of those that made it so special 💔💔💔

It was a unique privilege to have, in Portugal, a place like the @IGCiencia 60y teaching us to aim higher, to try our best Today, we will celebrate those years and give a warm send off to the ones leaving @phd_igc At 6pm, in the patio, RIP Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência 💔

This paper led by Dr. Atsushi Shimada is out @NaturePlants! Centromere function can be dependent on a few TEs, and in RNAi mutants, small RNAs targetting these TEs are enough to reestablish normal chromosome segregation! Crazy! nature.com/articles/s4147…
