Just reviewed nominations for a prestigious chemistry award and < 5% nominees were women?!? 😳 Mentors - there are excellent women in chemistry, so PLEASE nominate them! Of course they shouldn't win just for showing up, but they'll never get to swim unless they're in the pool!🏄‍♀️

So she was first author on his key paper - in fact she's on most of his key papers, yet she didn't get the Nobel Prize, in spite of the fact they could have given 3 awards, not just 2. Explain to me how STEM is not institutionally sexist.

Congratulations to our 2024 medicine laureate Victor Ambros ✨ This morning he celebrated the news of his prize with his colleague and wife Rosalind Lee, who was also the first author on the 1993 'Cell' paper cited by the Nobel Committee. #NobelPrize

Some thoughts on the current state of single particle cryo-EM map/model validation. (TLDR: preferred orientation remains a big problem, ❤️ Q-scores. There's been progress, but there's still more to do. ) authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S09…

Being a woman is kind of like being a cyclist in a city where all the cars represent men. You're supposed to be able to share the road equally with cars, but that's not how it works. The roads are built for cars and you spend a great deal of physical and mental energy being…

As summer unfolds, remember to take a well-deserved break! Balancing academia & family is tough, so prioritize self-care, set boundaries, and explore new experiences. Disconnect from social media & focus on what matters. Here’s to a restful and memorable summer! @Momademia #STEMM

If this would not already be creepy enough, look at some of the answers. 🤮🤬

After giving a talk at a conference recently, I received an email from an unfamiliar senior professor in the audience remarking that my “look has extremely improved over the years” from “nerdy lab mouse” to “a touch of upper class.” 1/4
