CBe is now on Bluesky: @cbeditions.bsky.social Still here for now but I don't think I can carry on riding two horses at the same time.

A new book of poems (& four lyrical essays) by @WillEaves - an unusual philosophical depth and accuracy of observation & thought. He is one of my key writers in the U.K. to watch and learn from. I hope it is widely reviewed. From @CBeditions

'For anyone who doesn't know where Sudan is ...' a radio chatshow host has just said. Omdurman, 1898: 12,000 Sudanese killed, 47 Brits. Churchill: 'the most signal triumph ever gained by the arms of science over barbarians'.

Small thing. That ad that keeps coming up on my timeline that invites me to buy one shoe and get the second one free, seems a good deal.

The @GoldsmithsPrize will be announced tomorrow. The shortlist (includes @larapawson Spent Light, so I'm invested) is the fun part, & books were sold. It doesn't matter who wins: all of these books win. It freaking does matter who wins the other thing.

'It is impossible to predict, at the beginning of almost every paragraph of Spent Light, where it will have taken the reader by the end' (Sara Baume) @larapawson reading from her #GoldsmithsPrize2024 shortlisted novel

This is the writer's diary published today as Invisible Dogs (cbeditions.com/boyle4.html)

Nothing for umpteen years (this is not a complaint) and suddenly the Telegraph is all over CBe: Invisible Dogs in today's print edition, and a review of @larapawson Spent Light online today ("so brilliant it touches the sublime"). Don't worry, it won't last.

Brilliant Corners from here: cbeditions.com/bukhari.html

Christopher Ricks has written a long and serious essay -- The World as It Is - on my book Brilliant Corners. The depth of his analysis and his critique of the language of contemporary critical lingo is superb.

Paul Bailey, 1937-2024: theguardian.com/books/2024/oct…. Novelist, poet (2 books with CBe) and neighbour (wine, gossip, book swaps). Johnson on writing, its only end 'better to enjoy life or better to endure it' - both, and he did this.

Roll up, folks. @cbeditions (Charles Boyle) and I are doing a double-header @booksellercrow on Thursday 28 November at 7.30pm. Only five quid to have your life changed and your brow permanently furrowed. Hurry, while enthusiasm lasts. booksellercrow.co.uk/event/cbeditio…

If I've got to read the Telegraph, @CBeditions is the only reason why? Great review here: "Boyle has created something dread-making, with real elegance." Invisible Dogs! telegraph.co.uk/books/what-to-…

How to buy a book. Huge thanks to @SmallPublishers for putting on the book fair in the Conway Hall over the past two days, and to those who came and bought. CBe had its best year ever.

The CBe table at the @SmallPublishers book fair (still running tomorrow) with moody author of Bebe (cbeditions.com/George.html): don't you dare buy one of these books.
