In Italy we don’t care about University rankings. However, we do care that every citizen gets the chance of receiving a respectable level of education, regardless of their status. Universities are there, for everyone, also in order to reduce social inequality, not to increase it

We summarized the newly published findings and some pieces behind the paper.

I truly value working with fantastic collaborators (and reviewers). After such a looooooong journey.

A thread on our recent publication in @NaturePhysics However, instead of telling you what the paper says (you can read it here rdcu.be/cELsk) I will give you the back story of the origin of this paper. 1/

The term #superlattices is universally incorrect. First it is "superstructures" as "lattices" refers to points not atoms.Lattice describes concept of periodicity not structure. Even worse the lattice in this case is a SUBLATTICE!

Did you know that #perovskite #nanocrystal #superlattices behave as interferometers? That they are almost as perfect as single crystals? And that you might have made some without noticing? Find out how we learned this and more! doi.org/10.1021/acs.ac… @ACSPublications @IITalk

How do you distort a lattice?

Atoms are 3dimensional. So it is not possible to have a 2d crystal. The periodicity i.e. lattice however may be 2d so that the crystal symmetry is given by a subperiodic layer group.

Physicists have found a way of stacking 2D crystals to make designer atoms with up to eight electrons, in some sense realizing the ancient aim of turning lead into gold. quantamagazine.org/physics-duo-fi…
