Keep thanking our First Past The Post voting system for this deplorable state of affairs.

The job is actually to work “with” the federal government for the betterment of the people in your province but Premiers now think they lead the official opposition in federal parliament. The provinces are what is broken right now and this is largely why.

First-past-the-post causes vote-splitting

Lmfao Green Party cost Bob Casey the election.

Two-party systems fail us no matter who wins. It forces voters to back one of two leaders to avoid vote-splitting, sidelining real policy debates. And once a majority is achieved, there are few of the checks and balances that would be present in a true multi-party system.

Fantastic!!

Thank you for including Proportional Representation in your platform, @LiberalPartyNS!! 👏🏽👏🏽

Time for proportional representation, as this system is no longer actually honest to us, about us, or for us.

Alberta‘s, British Columbia‘s and yesterday’s Saskatchewan election show that there is a sharp divide between rural and urban voters in Canada’s west. Also, riding distribution favors rural voters in all three provinces. What are your thoughts on it? #ableg #bcooli #saskpoli

NewBrunswickFairVote Reposted

Just another reminder that first-past-the-post is bad for Conservatives too.

There's a significant chance that Saskatchewan NDP wins a Majority but lose popular votes.

NewBrunswickFairVote Reposted

It is time for Canada to get rid of first past the post rules for elections and choose one of the many proportional representation ideas that other countries use. We need consistency from government and not a crazy swinging from conservative to liberal to conservative to NDP.

NewBrunswickFairVote Reposted

There would be no need for any anxiety with a #ProportionalRepresentation electoral system. Just saying.

GOOD NEWS: Canada may fire another Transphobic Premier. Make it so #LGBTQ #TransRightsAreHumanRights

The NDP could possibly end up governing on their own even though they didn’t receive 50%+ of the popular vote

Surrey-Guildford is on track to flip from Conservative to NDP. And the NDP is doing so well in late-counted ballots that Kelowna Centre might be in play, too — which would give the NDP a 48-seat majority. chadskelton.com/2024/10/ndp-on… #bcpoli

The real lesson here: Electoral reform could have been BC United's saving grace, instead the party is dead.

Are you going to the BC United election night watch party? Seriously, it’s a great way to celebrate your party being driven into the ground, as you drink your taxpayer funded severance away, while reading old Brent Chapman posts! #bcpoli #vanpoli

We don't want a "Conservative" majority with @PierrePoilievre or any majority in fact We need electoral reform! #cdnpoli #onpoli @FairVoteCanada

He lied. Not that he wasn’t good at his job, or care enough. It was a lie to get votes

Yes JT is to blame for lying to voters about electoral reform. But that's almost to be expected. Winner-takes-all voting systems encourage politicians to make bold claims to draw in voters, but they don't hold them to account.

Despite 60% saying they would vote for another party, this result would still end in a clear majority for Doug Ford. Ontario needs proportional representation.

One of the most cynical actions by a politician we have seen. Remember, Trudeau never said during the 2015 campaign that he would not implement proportional representation & clearly said PR would be considered as part of the process of looking at new systems.

PM Trudeau finally comes clean on deceiving @FairVoteCanada in 2015 and that he never had any intention of allowing PR regardless of what #ERRE committee recommended. #cdnpoli #canpoli thestar.com/politics/justi…

Thank you to @SoniaFurstenau and the @BCGreens for keeping electoral reform alive in BC! We strongly believe a citizens' assembly is the best way to decide on a new voting system. See our explainer video here:

Some still argue that first-past-the-post keeps out extremist views, yet Alberta's Premier is giving credence to chemtrail conspiracies.

Manitoba could implement proportional representation and still win a majority at the next election. How about it @WabKinew and the @mbndp?

If Ontario used proportional representation then Ford would need to get off his own A-S-S and actually govern for a majority of voters instead of a few rich elite.
