WILDFIRE UPDATE: This is the final update from the Gold Team. The Avian Complex is 35% contained with little fire activity due to several days of rain. A Type 3 Team will assume command of the complex tomorrow at 8 a.m. It has been our privilege to serve you.

LOOP ROAD REOPENS: The Big Cypress National Preserve has reopened Loop Road, which was previously closed due to impacts from the Curlew Wildfire. All other closures remain in place.
WILDFIRE UPDATE: Rains yesterday slowed fire activity although the overall complex grew by just over 1,000 acres. Rain continues today so crews will will work on removing hazards such as downed trees and debris along roads and trails. tinyurl.com/aviancomplex
WILDFIRE SMOKE ALERT: Smoke from the Avian Complex will impact I-75 west of mile marker 70 from tonight into the daylight hours. Limited smoke will affect Hwy. 41 and State Route 29 but likely will not cause significant roadway visibility problems.
WILDFIRE UPDATE: Yesterday, the Flamingo and Buzzard Fires made significant runs and produced substantial smoke columns. Because of increased fire activity, the Avian Complex has grown by more than 21,000 acres over the last two days. tinyurl.com/aviancomplex

SMOKE AND FOG ADVISORY for I-75, State Route 29 and Hwy. 41 again tonight and tomorrow morning. Please be extra careful when driving in these areas. Always turn headlights to low beams and slow down when smoke and fog are present.

SMOKE & FOG ADVISORY: Smoke drifting from the Avian Complex could reach I-75 between the rest area at MM 63 and SR 29, and along Hwy. 41 between Ochopee & Oasis Visitor Center. Weather predictions also show a high probability of fog along I-75, SR 29 & Hwy. 41 near the preserve.
