Typo alert. The mayor actually said “Once you *LOSE* a single car park, everyone is up in arms. Everyone thinks it's the end of civilisation.” I’m a goose. Never tweet at the pub.

Last night @abc730 ran a report on Victoria's housing reform, and the youngest person they consulted was a 40-year-old homeowner. No renters. No young people. Those most affected by the housing crisis were ignored.

I live in a proper dogbox of an apartment. If I had to pay for a 50sqm, well-lit unit, I probably couldn't afford to live where I do. We should let more people like me make this decision. Banning economy class doesn't mean everyone gets to fly business: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

With a new council elected it’s time to bring trains back to Fitzroy North. Who’s with me?

Make Measles Great Again. 😐

I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it…

Yeah, nah. Before pedal-assist e-bikes became the norm here these kind of things were pretty annoying. If e-scooters have been banned in the City of Melbourne then I can’t see how these would fly.

.@limebike is piloting what they call a "pedal-less electric bicycle", see picture. I'm not sure if it's an e-scooter with a seat, or an electric moped. But I do know that most people wouldn't call it a "bicycle" as it isn't active mobility.

Sounds like William St and Exhibition St separated bike lanes are likely to be reconfigured into painted lanes while extra traffic lanes will be brought back. Because apparently these streets were models of efficient traffic flow prior to the lanes being introduced. 😐

New Melbourne lord mayor Nick Reece concedes parts of the CBD bike lane network isn't working. So how does he plan to fix it? MORE 👉 nine.social/RuL

“And when will we hold these elections?” “On a Tuesday. During work.”

It’s the small things: Bike lights a couple of metres before the street so pedestrians can still walk past. Courteous infrastructure for the win.

One of these is an excellent and efficient vehicle for navigating the city’s narrow and congested streets. The other is that damn cargo bike blocking the way.

Gotta wonder why some of the best located and most attractive land in Canberra was nothing but car parks for decades

Two car parks will close from 4/11/24 at Acton Waterfront off Commonwealth Ave & east of Barrine Dr. They'll be temporary construction site compounds to support Light Rail Stage 2A. Nearby parking is still in the area closest to Parkes Way. More at builtforcbr.act.gov.au/travel-impacts

Sydney bike users be wearing a Duncan Gay costume for Halloween.

Years ago, while I was doing consulting work for the City of Sydney, Australia, there was an INFAMOUS day where a particularly bad state minister of transportation was stuck in traffic, and saw bike riders zoom by his limousine in a safe, protected bike-lane. He had a petty…

Shout out to my long-time local friend Ken (and little Miki) who is a very good chance of being elected to Yarra council. Fellow veterans of the Fitzroy North dog park social scene. 🐶🐶

My favourite is this little section of the Capital City Trail because the old desire line (yellow marking) eventually replaced the original route (red marking). I remember that hardly anyone used the latter.

Post your favorite "Desire Paths". These are paths that naturally form as a result of bad planning.

Halloween tonight, in which parents who perhaps weren’t aware of just how dangerous rat-running is in the area get a bit of a wake-up call.

Coming back from Sunday sports on the “closed” street in question.

My potential new local member’s position on “street closures” is interesting given he represents a suburb that has benefitted enormously from filtering one of its major streets. The huge number of people who use this street daily would find it odd to be described as “closed”.
