Excited to launch a bit of a side project I've been working on recently! Some transport & urbanism-themed merch on RedBubble - shirts, badges, mugs, whatever you like. Take a look! redbubble.com/people/BenLeve…

Hey train Twitter. It looks like VLocitys are limited to 115km/h on the Warrnambool line, but 130km/h on the Ararat line, despite seemingly similar conditions (protected LXs etc). Why? What am I missing? (There's nothing else important happening today, right?)

Victorian local government elections are a shamble and desperately need a complete overhaul - return to polling booths, end single member wards, and go from there. theage.com.au/national/victo…

So, the government has put out a press release saying they'll introduce VLocitys to the Warrnambool line from November 1. Anyone know if this will immediately be all Warrnambool services, or will they be phased in gradually like for Bairnsdale?

This is absolute madness. Carbon capture and storage has failed time and again. Labour has slashed reliable green programmes, to pour vast sums of our money into a complete crock. The only possible explanation is lobbying by fossil fuel companies.🧵 theguardian.com/environment/20…

Network Rail in the UK have been mastering this for years. Clear demonstration of the issue leads to accountability, transparency and confidence in railways (and all public services.) x.com/NetworkRailSE/…

We’ve got the culprit - a melted ‘conductor pot’ which means that the electricity supply that powers @Se_Railway trains has had to be switched off. We’re working to fix this.

See this? This is great PT comms. "Our services are delayed today- here's exactly what happened, and here's what we're doing about it." So much better than a vague "Blue Line - Major delays. Due to a track fault, Blue line services are disrupted. Please allow extra travel time."

⚠️ Some trains are running late across various lines this morning due to urgent track repairs at Central. Here is an image of the culprit. Our team is on site and working to rectify this issue ASAP. We thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.

The Green Party supports HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail! “@TheGreenParty has voted for #HS2 to be completed in full, including the entire Eastern leg and an underground through station at Manchester.” Take a look at the press release below. 👇 1/n greenparty.org.uk/2024/09/08/the…

Folks from Ballarat and surrounds: this Sunday, Friends of the Earth Melb and the Climate Reality Project are running free Energy Champions Leadership Training. Great opportunity to get involved in climate action or improve your skills! melbournefoe.org.au/energy_champio…

no one would’ve said anything if they’d left those questions in the census. instead they commit an unforced error for everyone to get mad at at vulnerable people’s expense. dogshit political instincts

I went and took a look at the new protected roundabout in #Ballarat. What do you think of it - would you like to see more infrastructure like this? #cycling #bike #urbanism #transport

Just enjoying a shared pedestrian zone in the city and thinking thank goodness the scooters will be gone soon. 😐

Fresh calls for reform of Ballarat's bus network. "They need to understand if you're going to build more houses, more people are going to move in and you're going to need more transport, more frequently," thecourier.com.au/story/8637707/…

I happen to think Clinton is right about there being no comparison between the 2 candidates & them being the 2 choices whether we like it or not, but if Democrats think they can lecture, hector, or badger people into voting for them, then they have learned no lessons whatsoever.

When asked about US voters upset with the choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton says: "Get over yourself. Those are the two choices." Really glad to see she's learned lessons from her 2016 defeat then!

Hey pals, I've just been tipped off about this role going at @FoEAustralia Melbourne, and I'm told they're especially keen for folks from the Ballarat area to apply. Closes soon so get in quick! ethicaljobs.com.au/members/friend…

In the peaks there's a Ballarat train every 20mins, AND a Melton train every 20mins. From 6.48 there's one train every 40mins to cover both crowds. The 7.28 is just 3 carriages, & standing room only from Sthn Cross. There's no reason they couldn't run more evening services! @ptua
