Good to see attention on the issue of ED overcrowding (the four-hour standard reflects it). Interested to hear what other parties think given relative silence. @RCollEM⁩ always happy to provide expert input (how to do it, and what doesn’t work) hsj.co.uk/policy-and-reg…

No matter how many times it's reported @plymouthcc ignore the parking issues around my child's primary school

A nurse has been suspended by the NMC for 'bullying' behaviour. Anonymous concerns were raised in 2019 about his behaviour towards colleagues and a nursing student he was supervising. rcni.com/nursing-standa…

I’m v concerned about the pressure on Derriford hospital right now. The critical incident declared by on Monday is ongoing and serious. I want to thank @UHP_NHS staff for working so hard to look after huge numbers of very poorly people at the hospital currently.

Patients receiving care in corridors should never be the norm, but we see it more and more, especially during winter. If patients are receiving care you think is unsafe you should escalate it - use our template: bit.ly/46iNVf5

This evening I have written to the Health Secretary @VictoriaAtkins about the ongoing critical incident at Derriford Hospital. I have asked her to to convene a meeting of Plymouth MPs and health officials to discuss what interventions can be made to support the hospital.

This working week I have experienced more verbal aggression and verbal abuse than ever in my entire career. We are trying , Every day we show up knowing we are walking in to chaos. Just please be kind to Emergency department staff.

This is so true. But please RT if you’re not prepared to let the NHS go without a fight.

3 years ago today, my daughter had open heart surgery. She was 5. As I mum, I worried she would die. As a paediatrician, I was utterly helpless. I could remember the fear, the tears & terror, But instead, I remember Emma, the nurse who changed everything. A 🧵.

Olivia is 22, Sophie is 20, Evie is 14. 3 beautiful souls🥰 BUT They can’t even cross a road safely or recognise a penny from a pound. Jeremy Hunt wants them to go into paid employment. Do I 😂or 😢 I’m done with this Government. 🤬 #AutumnStatement #RareGenetics

NEW 🚨 | NHS England Sickness and Absence Rates show an increase in nursing staff sickness caused by anxiety, stress, depression & other psychiatric illnesses, making up 26.1% of all absence in June 2023. Failure to invest in the NHS forces staff to become patients themselves.

🤣 I'd like to see this illustrated and avaliable in all ED's 😂

We need to solve the overcrowding crisis in A&E. I may have the solution! It came to me whilst reading my son " A squash and a squeeze" by Julia Donaldson (author of the Gruffalo) A&E Squash and a Squeeze, adapted by Rob Galloway A little old A&E, lived all by itself , with…

Another day @plymouthcc You closed the cases I submitted yet look around! Cars/ taxis parked on yellow lines and school crossings I had to walk around several cars to get to the school Do something before a child gets seriously Hurt.

- Figures released today show NHS waiting lists up by 500k to over 7.6 million, target missed - 13% fewer students on nursing courses - 43,000 nursing vacancies in the NHS in England alone This is the reality of the NHS.

More resources, more staff, more choice. I will always back the NHS.

‘WE TOLD YOU SO’ is becoming common place in #nhs Toxic cultures must change Organisational reputation should never be an excuse Treating staff with dignity and respect while taking heed of ALL concerns raised should be a given

Content Warning: suicidal ideation This National Suicide Prevention Week, two nurses share experiences of suicidal thoughts & finding help. Why might nursing staff be at greater risk of suicide? What can you do if a colleague is struggling? Listen now: bit.ly/3EvJBgy

Congratulations and good luck #punc20 cohort as you head out in to your preceptorship 😊 Remember to be kind to yourselves, your wellbeing is more important that than extra shift 🩵

Evidence suggests that longer shifts could be less safe and more costly for health services. So why are so many nurses still on 12-hour shifts? Read this Nursing Standard article to find out + tips on how to look after yourself during a long shift > rcni.com/nursing-standa…

Sadly, it doesn't surprise me at all. Nurses often dont receive any or enough: emotional support/ signposting/ safteynetting for DV/DA, May be on the nurses' personal patient alerts, but its not considered part of their managers job, which is shocking, in my opinion.

Female nurses die by suicide more than any other healthcare professional & the numbers are increasing. Research is needed to understand why but we could begin by looking at the high rates of sexual violence & domestic abuse they experience. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay2023
