Can finally unpin this tweet because…I’m going to grad school!!!! Super excited to share that I will be starting my PhD in Biomed Sci at UTHealth Houston MDAnderson this fall!! #phd #AcademicChatter @OpenAcademics #mdanderson #uthealth

6/6 PhD rejections😭. Feel so disheartened and inadequate. If this feeling lasts, not sure I’d be motivated enough to reapply for next year. How do I stay motivated? @OpenAcademics

Someone shared these photos of a masters thesis defense in Rafah. Every university in Gaza has been destroyed by Israel. And while this shouldn’t be the reality for Gazans, I cant help but feel grateful for the steadfast resistance they display at every phase of this genocide.

Officially done with classes for the year AND have chosen a lab for my thesis research. Can’t believe it’s almost the end of the first year of my PhD. I dreamt of this two years ago and I can’t believe I’m actually living it 🥺🙏#PhD #gradschool

31K likes. No references, no one in the comments asking questions, just people happily accepting the caption as fact. Just a small example of how bad we desperately need quality sci comm. Posting scientific content without any context for likes fuels so much misinformation

When you were doing an undergrad, you wanted to do a masters. When you did a masters, you wanted to do a PhD. Now you’re doing a PhD, you want to be a cat.

What Israel, backed by the US w/ the complicity of Canada & other countries, is doing to Palestinians in Gaza is evil. It is wickedness in the extreme, of a kind & scale that's difficult to fathom. May it end, may we never forget, may justice prevail, in this life & any others.
