I'm sorry if you encountered me and thought I was being rude. I'm autistic and Jewish, so I vibe with people through intense discussion that may feel like arguing but it's more like exploring the truth. It's one of the few things that makes me happy, but I do try to be kind.

my biggest fear as someone who struggles with recurring mental health issues isn't that "it will never get better" – i know it will, it happened in the past often enough. it's the dread that it can always get worse without warning that gets to me, like a looming damocles sword

THISSSSSSSSSSS We have yet to come to major point. People are uncomfortable with being “ugly” as if ugly would negates the point you are making or person you are. It’s usually people who aren’t undesirable that are the most pressed about beating ugly allegations

Me: It’s okay to be ugly

There are several mechanisms for why people seem "less Autistic" during a fever. One is lower demand being placed on you when youre sick -- the other is that a fever lowers cortisol, the stress hormone! Together, this means you seem less disabled (and in a real way, u are!)

No, but this happens to me when I have fever Wth

The thing I've been explaining to coworkers, friends, family, anyone is that when housing is a market, homelessness is what demand looks like. When food is a market, demand looks like hunger. Capitalism demands cruelty

I credited #JudySinger with coining the term ‘neurodiversity’ in error. I have found evidence that the #neurodiversity concept was fully formed on my online autistic-run group ‘InLv’ as early as October 1996, well before Singer's 1998 thesis. inlv.org/2023/07/13/neu…

this is just a friendly reminder it’s okay to talk about your Autism if you’re self diagnosed

Wow! Huge changes happening here! The American Medical Association not only removed their support for ABA but also changed the language in their bylaws to recommend support rather than refer to treatment for autistic individuals. They modified some of their language to be more…

I worry so much for the kids who’ve “recovered from autism”. Autism is not something that one “recovers” from. Those kids are still autistic, they’ve just been trained to ignore their differences and their needs, which will make them more vulnerable to burnout and mental illness.

Borderline personality disorder as a label is and always has been an excuse for neglect, abuse, trauma and neurodivergence denial and hate. It should be an embarrassment to anyone interested in a humane mental health system.

Debtors getting angry, hopeful, and organized is what put student debt cancellation on the political map. We've won billions of dollars of relief so far, and we're just getting started. The Supreme Court can strike this iteration of relief down, but it won't have the last word.

i know some people say an adult Autism diagnosis is pointless but it honestly really helped me. i used to feel like i was the problem all the time. knowing that the circumstances i was put into a lot just weren’t made for me takes a lot of mental burden away that i was carrying

Detroit, stay inside as much as you can, and wear a good mask if you have to go out. DC had this distinction a few weeks ago and it was nasty

No food is universally “healthy”.

Food elitism and food hierarchy is a waste of time, money and energy. The healthiest food? Is accessible. Is enjoyable. Is personal. Is free of judgement.
