📢 Important Water Recovery Update from Asheville Water Resources
AFD companies on the scene off Oak Hill Dr for a rubbish fire that has advanced to a brush fire off.
As a reminder, burning yard waste, leaves and debris is not allowed within city limits due to safety concerns. Seasonal leaf collection began this week and will continue on a biweekly schedule.

The latest water supply map indicates water is restored to commercial buildings with fire sprinkler systems and therefore, we are lifting the fire watch requirements.
AFD units responded to a working fire 200 block of Short Michigan Ave yesterday evening. When firefighters arrived the duplex was fully involved and crews were able to get a quick knockdown on the fire. Thankfully there were no injuries, however, residents will be displaced.
In collaboration with the volunteer community group Flush AVL, the City is helping to provide flushing water to low-income communities. Thank you for your patience as we work to restore water service to all of our customers. Together we are #AshevilleStrong!

As the water lines in distribution system begin to pressurize, we will become aware of additional damage to those lines. If you see a leak in your area, please report it to customer service: 828-251-1122.
Debris collection in key areas of the city and county have begun in areas of critical infrastructure. You can place your debris at the curb for collection, collections will be ongoing.
Sanitation staff will work Friday attempting to collect on roads that have been inaccessible. If your road or trash was missed due to accessibility, call 828-259-5857 to request pickup. Staff are working to reach everyone but may not be able to collect all missed trash this week.
Members of the Scott County (Iowa) Sheriff's Reserves were in Asheville today and presented a check for $1500 to AFD to assist with Helene recovery. We are deeply grateful for the generous donations that make our mission possible and create a positive impact in our community.
