A youtuber made it out to our Middleton Island field site (never thought I'd be saying that!), and the inimitable Eliane Miranda & Katelyn Depot gave him a tour. youtube.com/watch?v=AtyjyF…

A great video of @anne_marie_bio's research on cardinals in and around Montreal. @barbalink cbc.ca/player/play/vi…

The survival cost of reproducing in cormorants is not due to increased energy expenditure, despite having large clutches [for a seabird]. Recent paper from Middleton Island led by Teo Barracho and @killerwhelan onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Beautiful to see a SailBuoy collecting data on fish & oceanography alongside our murre GPS tracks. After 20+ years trying to get a boat to measure prey + predator simultaneously in the #Arctic, @hentatisundberg has finally done it! #ornithology

🚨‼️ This is MEGA‼️ The first record of Spix’ Macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii) young born in the wild!🤩 The species was considered extinct 24y ago, but 50 individuals bred in captivity were reintroduced in Curaçá-BA in 2020. Congrats to Natalia Diniz (dinizbio on IG) for the record!

Registros foram feitos durante visita a projeto de conservação em Curaçá, região do sertão baiano onde a ave é endêmica. Espécie foi considerada extinta na natureza por 20 anos. Acesse: glo.bo/4cCv1CP #terradagente #fauna #natureza #araras #meioambiente

As someone who studies heavy metals in birds, I strongly support this.

James Hetfield admits he's “obsessed” with bird watching: “I've got probably six bird feeders” buff.ly/4eDlHk7

This incredible photo of a Middleton island kittiwake is a finalist at: bigpicturecompetition.org/peoples-choice… (Vote for it!) A great photographer can turn a mundane scene I see daily into a breath-taking image. I have hundreds of almost identical photos, and yet this one stole my breath.

Rice root is the prettiest flower on Middleton Island, Alaska. It's rather stinky (like most Middletoners by this time of year) & attracts a variety of really pretty flies.

Bumper year for Middleton kittiwakes with nests everywhere. So cramped for space that some even decided to do the glaucous-winged gull thing & nest on the ground.
