Spent my day with the great principals of the Antioch Unified School District for a professional development day. It’s inspiring to see the work that the equity audits have helped direct. Love seeing the changes happening in the school district!
Squeezed in a meeting with State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, as I was at the airport flying back from Seattle. I make the most of every minute of the day to advocate for our students! #education #school #antioch #ausd
On this International Day of Peace, I reflect on my visit to the Human Rights Museum in Atlanta. Peace will require recognizing education as a human right. And thanks to Pasadena ISD (Texas) School Board member Paola Gonzalez for being my buddy during the visit!
Great time seeing W. Kamau Bell and Nato Green at the Berkeley Rep Theatre!
Visiting with the great students and staff at Sutter Elementary School! Great to see our scholars settling into a new year of school. Thank you Principal Ogden! #education #schools #AUSD #antioch #sutter
Today, I visited with the next cohort of the Stanford Masters students in the POLS program, which made me reflect on the culminating field project I completed for the program. My teammate and I worked to improve the casual language that students use in school.
What a great visit to Black Diamond Middle School! Great work being done all across the district. Thank you for welcoming me Principal Baffico! #education #antioch #AUSD #schools
As we celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, I think back to the Cesar Chavez Civic Leaders Lunch that I was able to attend earlier this year. We must continue to find more opportunities to engage young leaders.
Thinking back to the great time that I had at the STEM In-Living Color Event!
When I met Steve Kerr, I got to ask him, “How do you deal with the times when you feel like you’ve made a bad call?” He said, you review the everything and you learn from it. Grateful for the opportunities I have to learn from great leaders in all fields.
I think stories are what connect us together and what make us human. It was a joy to be able to present about the different ways that I think about stories in my life, rom the way that health care providers put together a patient history to the narratives we see on television.
Last year, I was able to visit the First Public School in the United States, the Boston Latin School! First founded on April 23, 1635. I'm a proud supporter of public education.
Kicking off school visits with Dozier-Libbey Medical High School! I also was also able to donate all the HOSA blazers that I'd collected over the years. I hope that these blazers help students be able to fully participate in HOSA without having to worry about finances.
I love any opportunity that I get to engage with the great people at School Board Partners! I'm proud to serve on panels like these where I'm able to share some of the lessons I've learned with school board members across the country.
As school gets back in session, I'm reflecting on the great friendships I made during my Masters in the POLS Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. These moments happen pass by so quickly. #education #gradschool #stanford #graduate
Earlier this year I toured the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center with WELL (Water Education for Latino Leaders). It's so cool to see all the technology that we have to make our water safe and drinkable.
Congratulations to the Antioch High School Class of 2024!!!
Always great to be back with my alma mater. Congratulations to the Dozier-Libbey Medical High School Class of 2024!!! Best wishes to Principal Clark on her retirement! Final tally: 20 small ducks that the graduates secretly passed to me during handshakes.
Congratulations to the Live Oak High School Class of 2024!
Had a great time at Stanford University for the Knight-Hennessy Kheystone presentation event supporting the great work being done by Education Justice Academy!
